2. WHAT IS SAFETY :
Safety is the state of being "safe", the condition of being protected from harm or other danger.
Safety can also refer to the control of recognized hazards in order to achieve an acceptable
level of risk.
A precaution that is taken in order to ensure that something
is safe and not dangerous is called safety precaution.
Safety precautions visible everywhere: lifejackets, small boat etc.

Always wear overcoat before work.
Wear protective eye protection.
Wear shoes to cover feet.
Gloves are also required.
Use earplugs in noisy environment.
use helmet, if necessary.

MACHINE
Remove the chuck key immediately before
starting the machine.
Tool should be tightened in the chuck.
Make sure that tool bit is sharp and has correct
clearance angles.
Never run the machine faster than the
requirement.
Always stop the machine before taking
measurements.

Keep yourself away from the moving parts of
machine.
Complete concentration is required by all
workers.
Running machine should never be left be
unattended.
Check for the availability of coolants.
Ensure that machine guards are positioned
properly.

and material.

emergency start/stop button within easy reach.
Always worn goggles to protect the eyes from
flying particle of metal.
Never leave the machine running unattended.
Do not leave equipment on top of the machine.

15. SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
FOR DRILL
PRESS
Wear safety goggles at all times when drilling is in
progress. This will protect your eyes from any
‘chippings’ that are ejected from the machine.
Remove chips with a brush, never by hand.
Don't drill with too much pressure.
Never hold the workpiece with your hands. Always
hold it with proper clamps before you turn on the
spindle.
Never leave the machine in the middle of the
operation.
