ave you ever felt like you
were BFFs with someone
one minute, and then the
next thing you know, they stab
you in the back for no reason
at all? Scream Queens’ Skyler
Samuels can relate ... both on and
off screen. You see, not only does
her character Grace

cattiness
when she

Kappa Kappa
Tau, but in
real life, Sky
says her
high school
experience was more of a horror
story than a fairy tale thanks to
a group of mean girls. “[Like the
Chanels], they tried to set the
rules of who was cool and what
was cool,” she explains to J-14.
“I used to be so confused as to
why everyone but me wanted to
be friends with them — I
definitely felt isolated.”
“TheythoughtI
wasn’tcoolenough!”
Skyler became even more con-
fused when she noticed that
people in her clique started acting
differently in order to fit in with
the “cool” girls. “I witnessed my
friends reinvent themselves in
order to seem more desirable to
those girls,”
Skyler opens
up to J-14.
“At one point,
I was even
friend-dumped
by a group
of girls who
thought I
wasn’t cool
because I didn’t
want to go out and party all the
time. In their eyes, I wasn’t up to
speed with the school’s social
circle — I was the awkward nerd.”
Having her so-called “besties”
turn on her broke Skyler’s heart.
“It was rough,” she admits. “After
that, I definitely let my title of ‘the
awkward nerd’ define my high
school experience, and I spent

Even though that nightmare is far
behind her, Sky tells us that she’ll
never truly forget it. However, she
admits that just like her Scream
Queens character, she’s glad she
didn’t cave in to peer pressure and
start acting like someone she wasn’t
just to fit in. “I became pretty good at
seeing through people who did that in
high school,” Skyler reveals to J-14. “I
don’t think you should ever let mean
girls bring you down. Their words and
actions shouldn’t make you change
who you are or how you feel about
yourself. Today, I know that my true
friends will be by my side through the
good and the bad and that they like
