Money tight around the house? Camila’s been there.
Fifth Harmony’s Camila:
W
hen you ask girls
about their favor-
ite childhood toy,
most of the time they’ll
mention their Barbie doll.
But when Fifth Harmony’s
Camila Cabello was little,
she almost missed out
on that experience. “I
remember always being so
fascinated by the dollhouse,
[but] I was raised in Cuba,
so Barbie wasn’t really a
common culture thing grow-
ing up, and I couldn’t really
afford one,” she confesses
to twist. “[I even used to]
write Santa telling him how
badly I wanted one.”
For Camila, wanting a Barbie wasn’t
just about fitting in, it was about being
part of a larger community that empow-
ered young girls. “The message Barbie
spreads teaches kids that they can do
whatever they set their mind to, no mat-
ter where they’re from, or their hair color,
skin color, eye color or size,” Camila ex-
plains to twist. And embracing Barbie’s
optimistic outlook on life ended up paying
off! In fact, after the brunette beauty relo-
cated to Miami, FL, her family’s finances
started to improve. “It wasn’t until about
a year after I moved to the United States,
when I was about seven, [that I was able to
purchase a Barbie],” she reveals to us. From
that point forward, Camila vowed to never
give up on her dreams, and now that she’s a
superstar with 5H, Camila’s getting a Barbie
made in her likeness! “Having dolls modeled
after us is really cool,” Camila gushes only to
twist. Talk about a fairy-tale ending! a
a As a child in Cuba, the future Fifth Harmonysweetheart looked up to Barbie. “She representsdiversity and hard work!” Camila explains.
“I was inspired by
Barbie’s message”
Before fame
Come this holiday season, Fifth Harmony Barbies are
going to be stocked on a toy store shelf near you! “We
all played with Barbie and she was a huge part of our
lives as kids, so being a part of the Barbie family is
a dream come true!” Lauren Jauregui tells twist.
