Nike was founded in 1964 by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. It started with just $1,200 and was originally called Blue Ribbon Sports. The company gained popularity through endorsements with famous athletes like Romanian tennis player Ilie Nastase in 1972 and basketball star Michael Jordan in 1984. Jordan helped launch Nike's iconic "Air Jordan" brand, which became hugely successful. Today, Nike is the world's largest sportswear company known for its quality products, iconic branding, and high-profile athlete partnerships.

 Nike is one of the most popular and
famous companies around the world. Nike
is a company of sports and athletes
footwear or cloths in general. In this
report it will be discussed about how Nike
started and when also about who is the
founder of this huge company. It will be
mentioned some of athletes that are
considered Nike faces in advertisement
also some facts about this company.

4. Introduction
 Nike is an American cooperation was founded
in 1964 by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman.
Nike engaged in footwear, equipment, design
and sport in General. There are many
segments in North America, Europe, Great
China, and Japan. Nike provides their
products in many stores all around the world
or in online websites. Knight wanted to name
the company Dimension 6, However, Jeff
Johnson who was the first employee in Nike
come up with the name Nike (O'Reilly, 2014).

5. Body of report
 Nike the company was founded with just
1200$ in the bank and It was founded by Bill
Bowerman a track and field coach and Phil
Knight who was a distance runner from
Portland (O'Reilly, 2014).The logo of Nike was
designed by student of Portland University
called Carolyn Davidson for a small amount
of money while at this time it is estimated by
$640,000 (O'Reilly, 2014). Nike first slogan
was “Just Do it” it was taken from Gary
Gilmore who was a serial killer and used to
say “let’s do it” (O'Reilly, 2014).

6.  Nike as most of the companies care about
advertisement, Michael Jordan who is a
famous basketball player has chosen to be
one of Nike’s faces in advertisement. Nike
and Michael Jordan made a deal in 1984 for
$2.5 Million dollar. Jordan was not just an
advertisement face but also he started a new
brand in Nike called “Jordan” and it almost
just for shoes and this brand in 2012 sold
more than $2.5 billion worth of shoes that
year was the best year for the Jordan brand
(Rovell, 2013).

7.  The founder of the company Phil Knight said “the
perfect combination of quality products,
marketing and athlete endorsement” (Rovell,
2013). However, Jordan was not the first athlete
that Nike endorses, Ilia Nastase a Romanian
tennis player, the contract was signed in 1972
(O'Reilly, 2014). The first Nike store located in
California in 1967, and it was named as Blue
Ribbon Sport store (Nike Facts, 2005-2017). The
Biggest and the largest store of Nike is not in the
home land of Nike the US but, it is located in
London Oxford Street (O'Reilly, 2014).

8.  Conclusion:
There are many factors to prove that Nike is
one of the most successful company that
engaged in sports wear and equipment’s. Nike
nowadays consider the biggest brand around
the world that related to sport. It is compete
Adidas, Puma, Umbro and Kappa.
