2. Objectives:
By the end of this class, students should be able to
demonstrate:
1. understanding of the steps of writing
2. ability to identify and define each step of the writing
process
3. Writing is a process
What is a process?
a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve
something.
4. Step 1: Brainstorming
What is brainstorming?
Here you write ideas about your topic. This step of the
process is gathering ideas.
5. Step 2: Outlining
At this step, you organize the parts of the paragraph
into an order.
6. Step 3: Drafting
At this stage, you turn your supporting details(
examples, explanations, etc..) into sentences.
7. Step 4: Reviewing
At this stage, you go over your paragraph to see if you
need to add, remove, rearrange or replace any parts of
the paragraph.
Peer-review: it’s a good idea to have a friend look at it
give you his/her opinion on your paragraph.
8. Step 5: Editing
At this point, you go over you paragraph one more time
to check for any mistakes (grammar, spelling,
punctuation).
