2. • Informational text is a type of nonfiction—a very important
type. Nonfiction includes any text that is factual. (Or, by
some definitions, any type of literature that is factual, which
would exclude texts such as menus and street signs.)

3. • A literary text is a piece of written material, such as a book
or poem, that has the purpose of telling a story or
entertaining, as in a fictional novel. Its primary function as
a text is usually aesthetic, but it may also contain political
messages or beliefs.

4. Informational text is nonfiction writing, written with the
intention of informing the reader about a specific topic. It is
typically found in magazines, science or history books,
autobiographies and instruction manuals.

5. But true stories can be just as engaging as their fictional
counterparts when their authors are committed to the craft of
storytelling. Also known as creative or literary
nonfiction, narrative nonfiction is a genre of nonfiction in
which factual matter is presented in a narrative style using
literary techniques.
