3. When you write, you communicate a
message to the reader. Communicating
in writing means sending a message that
has a destination.
The message of writing is its content.
You can present your message in a
variety of ways.

• - writing that tells a story
- tells about real events includes
biographies and autobiographies. Narrations
that deals with fictional events include short
stories, myths, narrative poems, and novels.

5. 2. DESCRIPTION
• - a kind of writing that creates a word
picture of what something or someone is like
- use images, words that appeal to one or
more of our five senses: sight, hearing, taste,
touch or smell. Most commonly seen in poetry.

6. 3. EXPOSITION
• - This type of writing explains, shows, tells
about a subject.
- includes news articles, memos, business
reports and notes to the baker, and candlestick
maker.

7. 4. PERSUASION
• - A type of writing that tries to move an
audience through thoughts or action.
- includes Newspaper editorials,
advertisements, letters to the editor, are all
examples of persuasive writing.

9. Creative writing is a kind of writing
that uses language in imaginative and bold
ways. It is any imaginative writing where
the purpose is to express thoughts, feelings
and emotions rather than to simply convey
information.

10. Creative writing is considered to be any writing,
fiction, poetry, or non-fiction that goes outside the
bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic,
and technical forms of literature. Works which fall into
this category include novels, epics, short stories, and
poems. Writing for the screen and stage, screenwriting
and playwriting respectively, typically have their own
programs of study, but fit under the creative writing
category as well.
