2. What are Tower Cranes ?.
A tower Crane is a machine, Designed to Load
and Unload Different Materials. The load is
distributed Through the use of hook and in
addition performs it corresponding
displacement on a car and has a Rotating
support that is usually mounted on the top of
the vertical tower. The tower crane is often,
Secured to the ground within the structure,
where the space around the building in limited.
Tower Crane Specification.
1. The Crane has the base that is attached to the Bottom of Said
Tower.
2. Loading and Unloading are made with great Frequency.
3. Make Transfer of material between various location.
4. Tower Cranes are Most Used in Contruction Sites and Dock.
5. They have the ability to Reach great Heights.
3. Construction Of Tower Cranes.
1. MAST
It is a Structure of metal lattice of a normally
square section whose main mission is to
provide the tower crane with sufficient height.
Normally it is found by lattice modules that
facilitate the transport of crane. For assembly
the modules will be joined by screw, all of
which will be connected to the projected
height. Its Shape and Dimension vary
according to the necessary characteristics of
weight and height.
On the upper part of crane there is a rotating
part that gives crane a 360 degree horizontal
movement.
2. JIB.
It is a metal lattice structure of a
normally triangular Section whose
main mission is to provide crane with
the necessary radius or range. Like the
mast, it usually has the Modular
structure To facilitate it transport. The
counter Jib is mounted on the other side
which holds the Cable motor and
Counter Weights. The crane Jib can
rotate Upto 360 Degree to move Goods.
4. 3. Trolley.
In order to Make the Horizontal
Movement of Goods loaded On the Jib,
An equipment, called Trolley is been
Designed and Place Beneath the Jib. To
power the trolley and Trolley drive is
mounted which helps the Tower Sling or
cables to displace in the Upward and
Downward Direction.
4. Hook Block.
A hook is attach to the hook block
assembly. A hook block assembly
house a series of sheaves and
Pulleys that carries the rope. The
hook block provides greater
strength and flexibility for lifting
the loads.
5. Counter Weights.
Balancing the forces on the crane
caused by the load is a primary
function of the Counter weights
which are manufactured and
Fabricated from Concrete which
comes in modular units. The
Number of counter weights
depends on the expected maximum
load capacity, Jib length and tower
height.
5. 6. Operator Cabin.
Movement of the crane are controlled from
the operators cabin within the cabin sits the
operator chair with joystick controls,
electronic monitoring device and
communication systems. Many cabin
comes with climate control to ensure a
comfortable work Envt. The Operator Cab
is part of the Slewing assembly.
7. Foundation Base
Secure Coonection are essential
component of any tower crane and those
connection are only as secure as the bolts
and pins used on the crane. Mainly
Anchor Bolts of High tensil strength
must be used.
Foundation Anchos are the steel Posts
embedded in the reinforce Cocrete that
are bolted to the tower. These anchors
provide a secure connection to prevent
thr crane failure due to the overload and
winf forces.
