2. EXISTING PRODUCT
Every single street – Rickey Gates
This show makes its audience want to watch it because it has a very
specific audience of a group of 30–50 year-old active people who are into
running.
The lighting is all-natural lighting because it’s all filmed outside in the
city of San Francisco.
He is only wearing running gear throughout the whole documentary.
There are lots of slow-motion and time-lapse shots.
It doesn’t just focus on running; it also focuses on the setting and the
different people of the area he's running in.
All the interviews on him basically take place in one area
3. EXISTING PRODUCT
Crossing Dartmoor – Ultra Marathon trail (short documentary)
A lot of the shots were on a handheld camera
Lots of time lapse and slow motion of him running
It is all shot during the day so all of it is using natural lighting. There
is some scenes shot at sunrise that create lens flares.
It is an ultra marathon trail so the target audience will be people who
are runners, and it will maybe inspire people to run something like an
Ultra too.
He usually only wears running gear throughout.
4. EXISTING PRODUCT
Once is enough (feature length documentary)
It was filmed outside. There was some interviews that took place on a
train track and in the woods. There was also some shots of stand-up
comedy inside.
It uses comedy too so its not just runners who it’ll appeal too, its
anyone who wants something to watch and maybe they can learn
something new.
The colors are all simple and nature related, like greens and browns.

Each documentary has similar aspects to it. They all had
long shots, interviews and a time lapse of nature. They
also has slow motion. They all had hand held footage of
the runner.

enjoy different things to what I enjoy

audience are the people more likely to do something similar to what
I’m making my product about.

What this says about my audience: My audience is mainly female
which could mean there are more female runners who enjoy also
watching running documentaries

similar to other running documentaries.

Observation: Most peoples interests are running or something
active
What this says about my audience: They also participate in
ruining as well as watching it.

target audience can relate moe to the product itself which will
make it more enjoyable.

Observation: Drama shows are the most popular, next is
documentaries.
What this says about my audience: The fact my target audience
enjoy drama shows they like shows with twists and more
excitement.
How will your product appeal to this audience: I can try make my
product more exciting than some other running documentaries out
there to make it more exciting for the people watching.

rather than short shows.

documentary will be a shortened down version of something that
is usually over an hour.

because its already the type of thing they watch.

Observation: The most watched sport is Athletics/Track.
What this says about my audience: They enjoy sports that would
maybe be more fast paced.

Observation: Most people have ran the type of distances my
documentary will mention
What this says about my audience: They are athletic and probably
marathon runners themselves.
