words that are “Vernacular” &
“Architecture”. Vernacular means concerned
with domestic and functional rather than
public or monumental buildings whereas
Architecture means the art of designing and
constructing buildings.

address local needs. It tends to evolve over tome to reflect the environmental, cultural and
historical context in which it exists. This style of architecture also takes in account:
• Local requirements
• Climatic conditions
• Geographical factors and topography
• Availability of construction materials
• Economic conditions

to accept change and addition.
