To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Mihaela Mihut. I am writing to submit my resume for your consideration in
connection with a full- or part-time faculty position as an acting teacher.
I am a lifetime member of The Actors Studio and a part-time faculty member at the School of
Visual Arts where I have taught Acting for Film since 2009. I teach acting workshops
internationally, most recently in England, Estonia, Greece and Romania, and have been a
presenter at international academic conferences. I am also a working actress with recent film and
stage credits, including as an acting coach. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from the Academy of
Theatre and Film in Romania, where I was born, and received a Master’s in Fine Arts from the
school of The Actors Studio in 2000. I became a member of The Actors Studio in 2002.
I believe I am extremely well-qualified as an acting teacher. Not only am I passionate about
teaching the craft of acting, but I am devoted to improving my skills continuously through my
work on a variety of theatre and film projects, including through my regular participation and
work in session at the Actors Studio where my work has been moderated by leading actors such
as Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel, Alec Baldwin and Estelle Parsons, to name a few. I focus
intensely on continuing to develop my actor’s instrument, which enables me to bring new
insights to my teaching, while I use the lessons I have learned as as a teacher to inform my
acting.
My skills as a teacher are broad. Not only have I taught acting for film and stage to students who
are pursuing careers in the performing arts, I have taught classes focused on the needs of writers,
directors and others involved in filmmaking, as well as classes that introduce the fundamentals of
acting to non-actors. I also frequently work with writers and directors on script analysis and
script development, consult with them on casting decisions and the rehearsal process, and
provide on-set coaching. Through these experiences, I have developed exercises and techniques
that enable writers, directors and actors to share a common understanding of the actor’s work.
The tools I provide enable writers, directors and actors to collaborate effectively in their common
quest to reveal and illuminate the human spirit.
It is with great pleasure that I submit my C.V. to you. I look forward to discussing my
qualifications and to demonstrating the value I believe I will bring to your school.
Please feel free to call me at your convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, Mihaela Mihut
