Information systems are integrated sets of components that collect, store, and process data to provide information, knowledge, and digital products. Businesses and organizations rely on information systems to manage operations, interact with customers and suppliers, and compete in the marketplace. Individuals also depend on information systems, generally internet-based systems, to conduct many aspects of their personal lives. Some common careers in the information systems field include database administrators, programmers, business analysts, and IT managers.

2. Information system, an integrated set of components for collecting, storing, and processing data and for
providing information, knowledge, and digital products. Business firms and other organizations rely on
information systems to carry out and manage their operations, interact with their customers and suppliers, and
compete in the marketplace. Information systems are used to run interorganizational supply chains and
electronic markets. For instance, corporations use information systems to process financial accounts, to manage
their human resources, and to reach their potential customers with online promotions Many major companies
are built entirely around information systems. These include eBay, a largely auction marketplace; Amazon, an
expanding electronic mall and provider of cloud computing services; Alibaba, a business-to-business e-
marketplace; and Google, a search engine company that derives most of its revenue from keyword advertising
on Internet searches. Governments deploy information systems to provide services cost-effectively to citizens.
Digital goods—such as electronic books, video products, and software—and online services, such as gaming
and social networking, are delivered with information systems. Individuals rely on information systems,
generally Internet-based, for conducting much of their personal lives: for socializing, study, shopping, banking,
and entertainment (Zwass, 2016).
Management Information System (MIS) according to O'Brien (2002) said that MIS is an integrated
system that provides information to support the operational, management and decision making functions of an
organization. MIS is an information system that produces outputs using inputs and various processes needed to
meet certain objectives in a management activity (raidyadwiky.wordpress.com, 2014). Another author
According to John F. Nash (1995: 8) Information systems are a combination of people, facilities or technological
tools, media, procedures and controls aimed at managing important communication networks, certain
transaction processes and routines, helping management and internal and external users and providing a basis
for decision making right (bitar, 2018). Another figure, Stair & Reynolds (2010) said that an information system
is a set of elements or components that are interrelated to one another, which can collect, process, store and also
spread data and also information, and be able to provide feedback to meet objectives an organization. Also,
Laudon and Laudon (2010) say that what is meant by information systems is a component that works with one
another to collect, process, store and also disseminate information to support the activities of an organization,
such as decision making, coordination, control, problem analysis, and also visualization of the organization
(bitar, 2018).
Based on the scholars above, the author concluded that information systems is how to collect data and
manipulate data that we have into information through a System so that it can help us to make a report and utilize
technology properly.
I deliberately chose the information system in order to show that the information system is important to
learn and be competent at work. For example a job prospects for information systems, such as Business Analyst,
Web Developer, Project Manager, E-Commerce System Developer, IT Manager, Database Administrator,
System Analyst, IT Consultant, System Engineer, Information System Manager, Network Security, Programmer
(denipurbowati, 2019).
A database administrator is someone who supports to store and protect data using software. Protected
data can vary from a person's financial data to information on goods shipping transactions. The DBA ensures
that the data it stores will always be safe and protected from those who are not moved. Visited, database
administrators will be involved in database planning and development. In addition, they will also solve problems
experienced by users in these matters (Jessica, 2020).
A programmer is someone who has the ability or skills to write and support code (syntactic) computer
programs using computer programming languages (java, php, javascript etc.). All applications or OS (operating
system) that we use every day whether mobile applications (Android / iOS), websites, and desktops are made
using a specific programming language (GUNTORO, 2019).
Last time, based on the capabilities obtained from the information system is very helpful in building a
good system and produce the right information, and can facilitate the exchange of information that can be
accessed anywhere and anytime.
