2. Standard and Intercept Forms
These are different ways to write a quadratic function that will give you
key features about the graph of that function.
Standard Form: y = ax^2 + bx + c
A = the vertex, if greater than 0 then it is the maximum point, if less
than 0 it is the minimum point.
C = the value of the y intercept
B helps you calculate the axis of symmetry.
Intercept Form: y = a(x – p)(x – q)
A = the vertex, if greater than 0 then it is the maximum point, if less
than 0 it is the minimum point.
P and Q = the x intercepts or roots of the function.
