Michael Oosthuizen
I commenced my career in hospitality at the then Holiday Inn Group (now Tsogo Sun), where I
trained and operated through all the departments for a period of three years from 1984 to 1987.
For a period thereafter I assisted my ailing parents in their business (jewellery).
I have since pursued my chosen career and have been employed at several hotels in positions such
as F&B Manager, Banqueting Manager and General Manager.
I have been involved in several hotel openings such as Emerald Safari Resort & Casino as well as The
Sandton Convention Centre. According to my referees, I am proactive and energetic when it comes
to the operational side of running a hotel and I prefer operating on the floor rather than sitting in an
office and delegating to the team. Guest relations and staff development are key to any successful
hospitality operation and I enjoy focussing on these areas along with general business management.
At my last position I was employed as Project Manager in Qatar. I am in the market for a new
position and prefer to stay in Johannesburg; however I am willing to relocate should I be successful
