Angles in a clock
A circle has 3600 angle
Angle formed at 3 ‘o’ clock and 9 ‘o’ clock are
same. This will be ¼ of the total angle of a circle.
That is 900
• The minute hand will rotate 3600 in
one hour.
Then in one minute it will rotate
360/60=60
• The hour hand will rotate 3600 in 12 ho
Then in 1 hour it will rotates 360/12=30
That is at 3 ‘o’ clock it is
30*3=900
At 4 ‘o’ clock it is
30*4=1200
To find the measurement of the angle
if it is same side we can use the eq
30h-5.5m
if the time is 2.20
the measure of the angle is
(30*2 – 5.5*20) = 500.
If it is opposite side we can use the equation a
360-(30h-5.5m)
if the time is 3.40 the measure of the
angle is
360 – (30*3 – 5.5*40)
