A seminar presentation on hydrogen fuel cells and its application in vehicles. A topic that can be presented in BTech & MTech seminars. for more seminar presentations log on to www.mechieprojects.com
2. PRESENT SCENARIO
• The main sources of fuel are :-
-Petrol
-Diesel
• Conventional Resources:-resources which get exhausted and cannot be renewed.
• Rapid industrialization and increasing population have increased fuel consumption.
• It is expected that the oil reserves around the world are sufficient for the next 40yrs.
“Q. What about the future generation ?!”
• There is an urgent need for a non conventional source of energy.
• One alternative solution is “Hydrogen Fuel Cell”.
• Hydrogen Fuel Cell :-It uses hydrogen and oxygen to produce
electricity where water is the by product.
4. HYDROGEN FUEL CELL VEHICLE
• Vehicles which contain hydrogen fuel cell are known as
“Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle(HFCVs).”
5. HOW IT WORKS ?!
1: The Hydrogen fuel stored in its tank is supplied to the fuel cell stack.
2: Inflow of air is supplied to the fuel cell stack.
6. 3: The reaction of air and hydrogen in the fuel cell stack generates electricity and water.
4: The electricity generated is supplied to the motor and battery.
5: The by-product water is sent out.
7. ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
ADVANTAGES
• Carbon-free emissions.
• No contribution to global warming.
• Less heat generation.
• Energy effective.
• Availability of hydrogen.
DISADVANTAGES
• Storage of hydrogen.
• It is explosive.
9. CONCLUSION
• Hydrogen fuel cell has a great potential to fulfill the growing demand.
• Increasing the use of HFCVs will result in sustainable development of the
country.
• Further research in this field, can enhance and optimize the performance of
HFCVs.
• It can be concluded that “HYDROGEN” is the future fuel.
