7. First of all, you should know that
weather and climate are not the same
thing.
8. Weather
The State of the atmosphere/ Atmospheric condition at a
particular time and place is called Weather.
Weather is described in terms of variable conditions such as
temperature, humidity, wind velocity, precipitation and pressure.
The average weather conditions of a region over time are used to
define as a regions climate.

• Short term
• Limited area
• Can change rapidly
• Difficult to predict WEATHER is what’s
happening outside your
window right now.
10. Climate
Climate is the average state of the atmosphere
near the earths surface over a long span of time
(30-40 years).
The climate can be best understood by an analysis
of its component or elements.

weather observation.

• Wide area
• Seasonal changes
• Measured over long
spans of time
13. Climate of Bangladesh
The climate of Bangladesh is moderate, at the same time its
favorable and adverse.
Bangladesh is evergreen and fertile, on the other hand, different
types of natural disaster occurs here throughout the year.
Like; storms, tidal wave, flood, drought, nor’wester, tornado and
excessive rainfall.
16. Seasonal Variation
Season Is the climate type, at any place, associate with a
particular time of the year.
The change of the season is mainly due to the change in angle of
the earths axis in relation to the position of the sun at a
particular place.
17. Season’s of Bangladesh
Bangladesh is called the land of six seasons. It has a tropical
climate because of its physical location. The Bangla calendar year
is traditionally divided into six seasons-
19. Summer season in Bangladesh
The characteristics of summer season:
-The summer is warm,
-Start from the month of Baisakh, from mid-april.
-Highest temperature is 34ºc & average lowest 29ºc.
-Temperature in north & north west area rises up to 40-45ºc
-Norwester, cyclone and tsunami occurs in this time.
21. The Rainy monsoon season
Characteristics of the rainy monsoon season:
o Wind blows from south & south western part of Bay of Bengal,
this is known as summer monsoon.
o The wind causes heavy rainfall.
o Rainfall does not occur equally all over the country.
o 70 to 85% of total annual rainfall takes place in this season
o April –may and October-November are high time for cyclone
and tornadoes.
23. The winter season
Characteristics of the cool and dry winter season:
Low temperature
Winter is very short & dry
Generally temperature is 11-29ºc but comes down to 4 -5ºc
in the north and north western region.
Cold wave and different types of diseases are seen in this season
The poor people have to suffer a lot.
Different types of vegetables grow in this season.
