2. Island records publish a wide variety of different artists from different
genres such as Avicii, Fall Out Boy and The Killers. All of these artists
are from the same genre as my music video so they seem like a good
choice of publisher. They also support people lots of other genres like
pop and hip-hop. As a record lable they have had a lot of success with
their altenative artists.

3. Island Records
Why
I think Island Records is the best company to publish this music
video because they already have a strong presence in the
Alternative Rock genre and have artists who cater for the same
audience as we are trying to reach with this project. I believe that
if you publish the music video it will be considerably more
successful.

4. The Idea
After doing a survey on our original ideas the one which most people liked
was the idea of a narrative music video. So after putting our heads together
we came up with a few narrative, we then had another survey for which
narrative idea people thought was the best. The music video will be for
Stephens ­ Sincerely
The main character has a picture of a building of some significance to him.
The music video consists of mainly artistic shots of the artists journey to his
location, there will be performance shots of him singing to himself at points.
This will help to convey the idea of loneliness which the character feels and
make him relocatable for the target audience. Throughout the music video
the character is walking through various locations. At the end of the video he
finds his location and is holding the photo up in front of the shot. He then
drops the photo to reveal the location from the picture now in ruin.

5. ConventionsForm Genre
Conventions of form though important, are
overshadowed by the genre conventions.
Though there are still clear conventions in
music videos such as links being made between
the audio and the video. Another example of a
convention of form would be some shots of the
band / artist performing; be this lip syncing,
playing, concert footage etc.
Conventions of genre are very important for
a music video, if you use the wrong
conventions for the wrong genre a video
can look completely wrong. The Alternative
genre has its own conventions which will
needed to be followed for my music video
to be affective. An example of this would be
that Alternative music videos are often very
narrative based with much less
performance than some other genres.
