The document outlines a proposed hybrid genre film called "Covered" that will incorporate elements of romance, tragedy, mystery, drama, violence, sex, and dance. The film will follow a boy who uses dance to cope with a recent tragedy and find his voice again. It will be directed by Anne Fletcher and star popular young actors like Channing Tatum and Shia Labeouf. The film is targeting a 15-25 year old audience and has a $19 million budget to produce through Universal Pictures.
2. GENRE
• We have chosen to use a Hybrid genre for our film. The reason
being is that it will allow us to implement various genres within
the film to create a wider audience which could determine the
success of the film. It will be beneficial to have more than one
genre as making it hybrid will capture the interest of viewers of
all kinds.
• There are elements of
Romance, Tragedy, Mystery, Drama, Violence, Sex and Dance.
• Films that heavily influenced and inspired us would be that of;
Step up, Honey, Black Swan and Adulthood.
3. PLOT
• The film would be set in a more deprived part of America. We are introduced to
a young boy that we don’t know much about, he’s new to this town and it’s
made clear he has recently had some tragedy that has affected his speech. He
starts a new school and is picked on because he cant speak, there’s a girl in his
class that notices him and makes it her mission to get him to confide in her. After
trying and trying she takes him to what we find out to be an underground dance
basement that the troubled kids from all over the town set up to come together
and help work through their problems. The boy uses dance to start opening up
until he’s able to attempt to find his voice again. Along the way he finds romance
in the girl and true friends in all of those working together. However, soon the
money they used to rent the basement out will be over and they wont be able to
help each other anymore. The only way they can raise the money is through
entering a dance competition, but with so many challenged and nervous
personalities they face a tough time building the necessary confidence to do it.
4. TARGET AUDIENCE
•The target audience that we have chosen to aim our feature to is
anyone between 15 to 25 year olds. However people who out of
this age range could also relate to this film.
DIRECTOR
•The director of our film is Anne Fletcher. We chose Fletcher
because she directed Step Up so she would be familiar to the
plot.
5. ACTORS/ACTRESSES
• We have decided to use actorsactresses that out target audience can relate with in some
form. We also took in to consideration the status of our characters as seen from roles that they
have taken on in other films that they have starred in.
• The actors that we believe can fulfill positions in our film are Channing Tatum, Shia
Labeouf, Elijah Kelley, Luda Chris, Adam Deacon, and Lea Michele. These actors have
responded well with the young audience that we will be trying to convince to watch our film
and so by having these actors and actresses star in our film, we can expect to of influenced
the audience that we are interested in. Some films that these actors/actresses have starred in
are located below.
6. FINANCE $
• The film Covered will cost around 19 million dollars to produce in America.
Its aim will to make 28 million dollars on the first weekend after doing
research on featured movies like step up and its sequels, Covered should
initially, outperform all of its predecessors.
• The 19 million forecast will pay the actors, assets, music, advertising and
image copyrights in order not to infringe ant laws and acts.
• The film studio to cast this project will be Universal Pictures, due to their
success with similar films universal pictures will give the money needed as
this project has the genre they will usually produce their for providing us with
the money to produce covered .
