2. Characters & Costumes
We found a recurring theme from nearly all shorts based in an
office; all characters were wearing white shirts/blouses and
black bottoms (either it be trousers or pencil shorts).
We found in the short SIGNS that the costumes sometimes
reflected the characters emotions.
For example, the protagonist wears bland suits
or shirts (White/beige/grey) which could be
interpreted to be showing his loneliness.
However, the female wore various different
outfits.
We attempted to reflect this in our own by
having the female wearing a vibrant blue shirt
to present her childish behavior, and the male
wearing a light shirt, without a tie, to present
his semi-professional attitude.

3. Soundtrack
• The soundtracks we used in Grey were heavily influenced by the short film
‘Wolfsong’. The emotions conveyed in this short are demonstrated through
the assistance of soundtrack with visuals to explain the story. The build of
music towards the most emotive scenes were key and we reflected it
similarly in our soundtracks during the loss of colour.
• As well as this, for our credits music, we took inspiration from the short
‘Storybook Ending’. To finish our short in a humorous way, we used quirky
music to maintain a comedic theme for our short.

5. • Our biggest influence was ‘Bag Boy’ and ‘Wolfsong’, structurally leaving the
explanation of the storyline until one of the final scenes.
