In this document, the author discusses three drafts of a film poster layout and two drafts of a magazine cover layout for a horror film project. For the first poster draft, the author models it after the "Sweeney Todd" poster for its effective style. The second poster draft resembles "The Woman in Black 2" poster to emphasize supernatural and madness elements. The final poster draft combines effective elements of the first two. For the first magazine cover draft, the author again models it after "Sweeney Todd" to link designs. The second magazine cover draft links from other horror posters and magazines since there was no cover for "The Woman in Black 2." Font choices are considered from the website "fontspace" to
2. Draft One
When creating my first layout I have considered
making it in a similar style to the 'Sweeney Todd'
poster. This is due to the feedback I got in one of my
interviews concerning this poster. My interviewee
claimed it was very effective and only criticised
clarity of one piece of text. It is conventional with
the title at the bottom center and this being the
largest and boldest piece of text. Also, the colours –
red, black, white and grey – are similar colours to
the poster I intend to create.
4. Draft Two
In my second draft layout I considered having a
similar layout to ‘The Woman In Black 2’ poster. It
is very conventional a like the first with the title
near the bottom centre and it being the largest
piece of text. My horror resembles this as it holds
elements of supernatural and I want to emphasise
this along with madness of the mind in my poster
which this does effectively.

In my final draft for a film
poster I decided to
combine the most
effective elements of the
two .
8. Draft One
I will again base my first draft from the ‘Sweeny Todd’
film, but this time for the magazine cover.
I chose the same film to base some ideas on in my
first draft because they are usually very similar and I
also want mine to link between not only the trailer
but the film poster and magazine cover too.
Links with similar
colours/costume/makeup and
props to the film poster.
10. Draft 2
Unfortunately there was no ‘Woman in Black
2’ magazine cover and so I will be using linking
it from other film posters and horror covers,
picturing how the magazine cover would be.

15. For the fonts in all of my drafts I
used 'fontspace' which was very
helpful. It allowed me to search a
topic that the fonts would revolve
around.
To start with I searched horror and
found one possible font. However, I
found most were a bit over-the-top.
I then tried again, thinking about
my narrative and the title itself
which caused me to search kids
handwriting and it then came up
with an extremely suitable font -
'Mikie's Christmas List Font'. One of
which I probably will use in my
ancillary products -depending on
my audience feedback of course.
