2. The idea
• Based on the insights and horrors of a cult.
• Follows the plotline of a young man trying to find comfort in the
passing of his Dad, reconnects with his Dad's friendship group
which in hindsight is a cult.
• He gradually finds out who his Dad truly was and becomes trapped
within the cult itself.
• The cult worships the underworld and dresses in the classic in the
classic ghost costume with hand drawn smiley faces.
3. Visual Cues
(Colours/images)
• The color scheme will be based off
dark colors, using the contrast of black
and white.
• The ghost figure/sheet is the main
image of this film and needs to stand
out compared to the dark aesthetic of
the film.
4. Influences
• As a group, we have taken the influences of the Se7en and the American
Horror Story opening sequences to help construct the final image and
editing style of our opening sequence.
• Alike to these opening sequences, ours will be fast paced
with occasional moments of slow-motion (dancing ghosts' image), this will
help create the delirious momentum we are hoping to embody and initiate
the enigma of our film to the audience, allowing room for question and
mystery.
• We could also use a vintage camera effect on some clips to show insights of
the cult meetings, in effect this will create a sense of realism and incite the
feeling of watching something you shouldn’t be.
• watch - Se7en opening sequence.
• watch - American Horror Story opnening sequence.
5. The practical considerations
• Where?
• Woods
• Empty buildings
• Houses
• Who?
• One main character, boy, student from hurt wood.
6. Name ideas
• Undiscovered
• The Unknown
• Unmasked
• What lies behind
• What lies behind the mask
• What lies behind the sheets
7. Idea 2 (Synopsis – whole film)
• Genre: thriller
• A stranger (male) looking for his missing family has suspicions that a
very normal looking teenage girl in their village has taken them
hostage but doesn’t know why anyone, let alone a teenager, would
want to take them, so he investigates.
8. Idea 2 (opening scene)
• Medium shot in car from back seat driving to house
• Only one person in the car
• High angle shot on car from widow of house
• which moves into a tracking shot too teenage girl getting ready in front of mirror.
• Stranger enters house and girl hits him with something to knock him out
• Girl puts man in basement with 3 other people who are already tapped and tied
up
9. Visual Cues (Colours/images)
• Image 1 showing the ides of the shot from
backseat in the car
• Image 2 showing a sense of what the people held
hostage will be tied up as.
- the colour schemes would be dark with greys
and dark blues to set quite a dark tone.
10. The practical considerations
• Where?
• We could use any schoolhouse on campus for the setting.
• Who?
• We would need a student for the teenage girl role and maybe a
teacher as the stranger because we would need an adult playing that
role to make sure it is realistic.
