2. Representation
My media product shows an atypical view of an
emotional black male . He shows emotion and he
cares about the person he has lost however in
resent years, increasingly in Hollywood black
males are presented as emotional in films like
pursuit of happiness were Will Smith plays an
emotional character. He also plays an emotional
character in seven pounds. My male character is
also drinking tequila and wears glasses showing a
more classy character, he also is a writer showing
a more atypical view of a black male as he is
artistic.
How does your media text
represent a particular social
group?
3. Audience
My opening is following a drawing , as I liked
the idea of creating enigma’s through simple
images. As this is also a convention of
psychological thrillers. My sound is quite
classical and pure so it adds to the artistic aura
of my opening and capturing the audience.
Films like Seven and Black Swan use this
similar idea to keep the audience interested.
How did you attract your
audience?
4. Technologies
When doing my planning and
research I used Youtube and
Wikipedia to find out the history of
psychological thrillers and how they
have changed I also used IMDb to
look at quick and easy film openings
when they were not shown on
Youtube. Live type was also quick and
easy and allowed me to
choose an appropriate font
and effects.
I made my music on garage
band using Youtube tutorials to
start me off.
When using final cut pro to edit
I 1st put on a sepia effect but
after getting feedback from my
target audience I changed it to
a more natural back and white
as it is more of what is
expected of a psychological
thriller film.
What have you learnt
about technologies from
constructing this
product?
5. Institution And Distribution
What kind of media
institutions might
distribute your media
product and why?
Media institutions like Sony pictures
and film4 would distribute and
produce my media because they are
popular for distributing and
producing horrors and psychological
thrillers like “the case” by Sony.
