ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION: EASY WAY
TO UNDERSTAND CLIMATE
ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION-SCIENCE
BLOG
INTRODUCTION
Weather makes our living style in various way. During summer season, we feel very hot. That is why we
switch fan or use refrigerated cool water. This time we use to wear light colored cloth which reflects the
heat. Sometime there may be abnormalities of atmosphere. When the atmospheric condition is cold, then we
use to wrap warm clothes which makes us hot. In same way, during rainy season, we use umbrella or rainy
coat to protect ourselves from rain.
DEFINITION OF WEATHER
The weather of a place changes every day that may differ in very short periods like hour to hour. That is why,
we plan our daily activities according to the weather forecasting for a particular day. We may define weather
the condition of every day atmosphere of a certain place along with temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind speed
etc.
ELEMENTS OF WEATHER IN ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION
Here I am trying to describe various elements in weather.
TEMPERATURE
Sun rays produces heat and makes rising of temperature of the earth. It is necessary to produce energy.
Earth’s surface, ocean absorbs the heat. Therefore, temperature of the earth rises . As the time of sunrise
and sunset changes throughout the year, the temperature also changes.
RAINFALL
Water vapor condenses as cloud. It falls back on the surface of the earth as rain droplets. When the
temperature is very low, then droplets present in the cloud becomes freezed into ice crystals. Due to gravity,
it comes on the earth as snowfall. During winter, the atmospheric condition of after sunset the temperature
becomes lower. It causes condensation of water vapor just above the ground surface. These droplets use to
hang in the air just above the surface which forms fog.
HUMIDITY
It causes dampness of air if humidity is present more in amount in the air. The capacity of air to hold water
vapor increases with the temperature rise. This capacity also falls when there is heavy rainfall. We can
measure amount of humidity by the help of hygrometer.
WIND SPEED
If there is a difference in air pressure, then wind blows in speed. In summer season wind blows from the sea
and causes rainfall when it carries maximum amount of water vapor. During storm or cyclone there may be
abnormalities of atmosphere.
FACTORS DETERMINING THE CLIMATE IN WEATHER IN
ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION
There are some factors for climate
DISTANCE FROM THE SEA
if a place is nearer to the sea then climate of that place is moderate or not much hot or cold. If a place is far
away from the sea, then it has extreme climate that means very hot summer or very cold winter.
ALTITUDE ABOVE SEA LEVEL
Altitude determines a lot on climate. In very high altitude, the climate is very cold as in Himalaya. It may
differ during abnormalities of atmosphere.
HUMIDITY
Place nearer to the sea contains much amount of water vapor, so these places are very humid like Kerala.
But the place far away from the sea contains less amount of water vapor. These place is very dry like
Haryana .
ANSWER IN BRIEF
Qs1: In atmospheric condition , why is it difficult to predict the weather of a place while it is easy to predict its
climate?
Ans1: Weather is a type of event for very short duration. For this reason, it is difficult to predict the
weather of a place. But we can easily predict climate as it is very easy work to us, because climate is
measured by the average pattern weather for long duration.
Qs2: For changing of weather the sun is an important factor. Explain briefly.
Ans2: The sun plays an important role for changing the weather. The sun is a big star with full of hot
gases, which produces light and heat. That helps us a lot. The energy from the sun is absorbed and
reflected by the earth’s surface, ocean etc. It determines the weather condition of a certain place..
When the water vapor rises high in the atmosphere, it causes rain to come down on the earth. The
hot air even develops areas of high and low pressure which follows formation of weather with high
speed wind . It may cause abnormalities of atmosphere.
DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING
IN THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION
Qs3: Differentiate between weather and climate in atmospheric condition .
Ans3:
WEATHER CLIMATE
We may define as every day atmospheric
condition of a certain place.
It is the average weather pattern taken over
a long period of time like 25 years.
Weather changes for short duration. This factor varies for long time period.
It cannot affect the adaptation of an
organism.
Climate is a factor helping in adaptation and
adjustment of plants and animals.
Qs4: Differentiate between humidity and rainfall .
Ans4:
HUMIDITY RAINFALL
We define it as content of moisture in the
atmosphere causing wetness of surrounding.
It is the drop of water falls from
clouds on the ground.
Qs5: How do you differentiate polar region climate to tropical rainforest climate in atmospheric condition ?
Ans5:
CLIMATE OF POLAR REGION
CLIMATE OF TROPICAL
RAINFOREST
The climate of this region is very cold for most
of the year.
In this place the climate is very hot and
humid.
Qs6: Differentiate between maximum temperature of the day and minimum temperature of the day in
atmospheric condition .
Ans6:
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF THE
DAY
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF THE
DAY
Highest recorded temperature in a day. Lowest recorded temperature in a day.
CONCEPTUAL QUESTIONS IN ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION:
Qs7: Write the factors which affects the climate of a particular place.
Ans7: The factors that affect the climate of a place are:(i) Temperature zone or latitude, that means
amount of sunshine it receives or distance from equator.
Altitude of the place from the level of sea.
Amount of moisture found in air.
How much rainfall present .
Qs8: The animals living in rainforest adapt themselves to the climate present there. Mention their adaptive
features in such climate.
Ans8: Those animals that live in tropical rainforests are herbivorous that are able to eat the
vegetation, rich in rainforest. Most of the tropical rainforest animals walk on the land or are adapted
to live on trees. The rainforest dweller animals are good in vision, and well developed audible
system. These characters help them to hunt their prey and protect from their enemies. They can
adapt well even in abnormalities of atmosphere.
