1.Give some examples of the different varieties of foods?
Ans. Some examples of the different varieties of foods are-
vegetable curry, idli , rice, omlet etc
2.Can some ingredients be common for different food
items? Give example.
Ans. Yes some ingredients are common for different food
items. For example water is used in both roti and dal.
3. What are the two main sources of food materials?
Ans. The two main sources of food materials are plants
source & animals source.
4. Give 3 example of foods from both plants source and
animal source.
Ans. Plants source: wheat, potatoes, cabbage.
Animal source: egg, milk, meat.

5. Mention some common animals which give us
milk?
Ans. Cow, Buffalo, goat are some common animals
which give us milk.
6. What are Different edible parts of plants?
Ans. We eat many leafy vegetables. We eat fruits of
some plants. Sometimes roots, sometimes stems and
even flowers .
7. Define herbivores, omnivores, carnivorous?
Ans. The definition of all three are given below.
Animals which eat only plants are called herbivores.
The Animals which eat only animals are called
carnivores.
Animals which eat both plants as well as other animals
are called omnivores.

8. Give 3 examples of herbivores, omnivores, carnivorous?
A. Herbivores: cow, goat, elephant.
Omnivores: bear, dog, cat.
Carnivorous: lion ,tiger, wolf.
9. How is honey produced?
A. Honey is produced by honeybees in following ways:
Bees collect nectar (sweet juices) from flowers, convert it
into honey and store it in their hive.
Flowers and their nectar may be available only for a part of
the year.
So, bees store this nectar for their use all through the year.
10. Give example of few plants whose seeds are source of
food for us.
A. Example of few plants whose seeds are source of food for
us are gram, moong ,dal .

4. Fill up the blanks with the words given:
(a) Tiger is a carnivore because it eats only meat.
(b) Deer eats only plant products and so, is
called herbivore.
(c) Parrot eats only plants products.
(d) The milk that we drink, which comes from
cows, buffaloes and goats is an animal product.
(e) We get sugar from sugarcane.

  • 2. - 1.Give some examples of the different varieties of foods? Ans. Some examples of the different varieties of foods are- vegetable curry, idli , rice, omlet etc 2.Can some ingredients be common for different food items? Give example. Ans. Yes some ingredients are common for different food items. For example water is used in both roti and dal. 3. What are the two main sources of food materials? Ans. The two main sources of food materials are plants source & animals source. 4. Give 3 example of foods from both plants source and animal source. Ans. Plants source: wheat, potatoes, cabbage. Animal source: egg, milk, meat.
  • 3. - 5. Mention some common animals which give us milk? Ans. Cow, Buffalo, goat are some common animals which give us milk. 6. What are Different edible parts of plants? Ans. We eat many leafy vegetables. We eat fruits of some plants. Sometimes roots, sometimes stems and even flowers . 7. Define herbivores, omnivores, carnivorous? Ans. The definition of all three are given below. Animals which eat only plants are called herbivores. The Animals which eat only animals are called carnivores. Animals which eat both plants as well as other animals are called omnivores.
  • 4. - 8. Give 3 examples of herbivores, omnivores, carnivorous? A. Herbivores: cow, goat, elephant. Omnivores: bear, dog, cat. Carnivorous: lion ,tiger, wolf. 9. How is honey produced? A. Honey is produced by honeybees in following ways: Bees collect nectar (sweet juices) from flowers, convert it into honey and store it in their hive. Flowers and their nectar may be available only for a part of the year. So, bees store this nectar for their use all through the year. 10. Give example of few plants whose seeds are source of food for us. A. Example of few plants whose seeds are source of food for us are gram, moong ,dal .

Name five plants and their parts that we eat. Ans. The name of Five plants and their parts we eat are:- Plants Parts 1.Apple Fruit 2. Mango Fruit 3. Onion Stem 4. Cabbage Leaf 5. Guava Fruit and seed
