5. ARTIST BACKGROUND
• Born 1962, Malacca Malaysia.
• Charles CHAM started painting at the age of five inspired
by the first movie he ever saw.
• It was a story about an artist with a magic brush and
everything he painted became alive.
• He painted birds and they flew away. He painted fish and
they swam away in the river. Finally he painted a woman,
she became alive and they fell in love.
• When Charles came home that day after the movie, he
started to draw a portrait of the painter on the floor with
some cake powder belonging to his mother.
• That was his first portrait.
• In 1993, he set up his studio in the old quarter of his
hometown in Malacca, Malaysia, and named it The
Orangutan House.

6. • The Orangutan House exhibits art work of Charles Cham.
• Orang Hutan House and so was delighted to stumble across it on Jonker
Street.
• The street where this house is located is beautiful with stunning wall art
continuing on down the street
• From this house leading to the river which also requires a stroll down along
to take in the beautiful wall art there.
• The house itself is full of unique T-shirts designed by a man called Charlie
who is there himself.

• First impression – We should not ignore
nature because of development.
• Non verbal messages – To not forget about
nature and take it to consideration.
• Perception – Nature is precious to us and
we should nurture it and not forget it.
• Self-expression – A lot of bright color is
used to portray the love and caring for
orangutan.
• Selective attention – The focus is on the
huge orangutan as its bigger in size.

• Painted Razlan Adnan (Warna Studio)
• Depicts the story of Hang Tuah during the old Malacca.
• This art piece illustrates the process of pirates conquering
another country.
• It also shows Hang Tuah’s life.

conquering process.
• Passive perception – Show and explain the
procedures and things that happened in the past.
• First impression – Refreshes the viewer’s mind
about the story of Hang Tuah

• He hopes that other local councils could follow the SS2
project.
• As in long term, they could reduce the cleaning cost of public
areas.
• His art piece 'Suara Alam' won first place in the 3D painting

16. DESCRIPTION
• Painted by Mohd Amin Bin Hadarih in Shah Alam
• Painted in conjunction to the 2014 Street Art Selangor
Festival
• It combines the elements of natural flora and fauna.
• To create awareness of the importance of nature towards
the environment.

• Painted by KHZNH Studio.
• In conjunction to the 2014 Street Art Selangor Festival.
• Meaning of the painting differs according to the viewers own
perception and interpretation.
21. EPC CONCEPTS
• Non verbal communication – gestures, facial
expressions , eyes , smile and frown shown suggests
awkwardness and shocked.
• Subjective perception – expressions shows how
society thinks nowadays. Some people feel thrilled
watching while some might judge or feel shocked.
• Stereotyping – they are stereotyping that the facial
expression leads to judging of others.
• Connotative meaning – Grey : Loneliness , sadness
and isolation.
