INTERNSHIP REPORT
I. INTRODUCTION
1. Descriptions of intern facility
a. Local environment of Khuong Thuong Secondary School
Primary characteristics:

Establishment and Development progress: Khuong Thuong Secondary school
was previously named as Trung Liet Secondary School; which had been established
from the 1959-1960 period. The school is located at Block 75, Dong Da residential
area which currently is a Quang Trung ward under Dong Da District, Ha Noi.
In the 1975-1976 school year, the Dong Da Department of Education and
Training transferred all facilities and personnel to a new place which was Khuong
Thuong Secondary school – now it is named as Khuong Thuong Secondary school and
located at No. 10, Ton That Tung Street, Dong Da district, Ha Noi.
In January 2013, Khuong Thuong Secondary school was recognized as a school
of national standards creating an opportunity for the school to improve in different
perspectives.
Primary features of schools and local environment:
In environmental and social aspects, the pupils primarily live in alleys which
administratively belong to the wards of Trung Tu, Phuong Lien, Trung Liet, Khuong
Trung and Khuong Thuong.
Many of the pupils have difficulties in their lives as they live in labour
residential areas. Some have jobless parents with low education level and inconsistent
income. Some are orphans while others just live with either mother or father as they
are divorced or in jails. Some parents highly concentrate on earning money; hence the

children are lack of care, and consequently, they are mainly educated by the school. A
few of the pupils suffer from mental diseases such as autism, hyperactivity disorder/
attention-deficit which impacts significantly to training work of teachers and learning
of other pupils.
Moreover, some of the school’s teachers have difficulties in their lives such as
low financial status or their children’s illnesses. A generation of senior teacher are
going to retire while the junior teachers are lack of experiences.
b. Functions and tasks of the school
Assist local environment to construct and implement education plan within a
Ward zone; including size of class, staffs/teachers payrolls, a budget for often
spending and a budget for purchase, re-innovation, construction, etc. Provide
recommendations to the People’s Committee of Trung Tu ward, co-operate
with departments, divisions within Trung Tu ward to improve and enhance
Education of Secondary level.
Construct and assign training for staffs/ teachers. Plan and implement
documents regarding education laws, assign to implement high-school’s
regulations.
Mobilizing fund, managing and using different resources to develop education
plan of local in accordance with the Government’s regulations.
Establish education researches, experience ideas-experiences, enhance and
promote the program of “Hai tốt” in schools, review and rewards to individuals
who have best achievements; suggest giving Honours rewards for teachers who
earn merits in their education lives and local environment
Supervise the compliance with laws regarding education, implementation of
industry regulations, programs implementation, education contents, education
methodology, implementation of specialization regulations, etc of school’s
personnel.
Assign to construct education relationship between school – home – societies.
The school has responsibility to cooperate with family and society to implement
education principles and reach to consensus on points of view, contents,

methodology regarding education relationship between School – Home –
Societies. It should cooperate all components all society to care for education,
construct learning programs and “healthy” education environment – contribute
to “socialize” education.

bringing knowledge to analyse and resolve real problems.
- Improve perception and responsibilities with current jobs
- Approach and to be familiar with job and specialization
2.2. Expectations from internship:
- Collect pedagogy experiences, teaching experiences as well as situation
handling ability in pedagogy environment
- Build up relationships between apprentice and supervisors, apprentice and
senior teachers, apprentice and pupils, and apprentice and pupils' parents
- Construct foundation for future work in pedagogy profession to contribute to
education in local area as well as in Vietnam
II. INTERSHIP CONTENTS
1. Assigned tasks and responsibilities
- Being a teacher, enhance learning perception and disciplines of pupils
- Teach 04 lessons in class for pupils under Grade 7, 8
- Submit training drafts three days in advance.
- Submit next-week training plan and head teacher jobs every Saturday.
- Practice listening, speaking, reading and writing in English as well as
presentation skill.
- Practice IT skills: typing skill, MS-office skills; such as Power Point, Word,
Excel, etc.
2. Working conditions and methodology:
Khuong Thuong Secondary school and Dong Da Department of Education and
Training provide lots of opportunities regarding supports for teaching profession,
supply of modern teaching facilities as well as other senior teachers and supervisors
patiently instructed and supported.
Refer to intern teachers, teaching methodology is supported and consulted by
senior lecturer such as assisting in drafting lessons plans, delivering knowledge to
pupils, flexible/talent in executing problems, methodologies to being a good class head

teacherr, etc. As a result of lots of supports, intern teachers learned experiences for
themselves and are gradually familiar with teaching methodology of school.
3. Working advantages and difficulties
3.1. Advantages
- School’s administrators provide good conditions and environment for
internship.
- Headmaster, also a supervisor actively and patiently instructed.
- A working environment is full of friendliness, healthiness and warm co-
operation among colleagues.
- Working schedule is convenient. Teaching is started everyday afternoon from
Monday to Saturday; hence it is easy to set up for other works.
- Pupils love their intern teachers.
- Presentation skills in class, attention attracting skills, good English speaking
skills of headmaster are good; allow intern teacher to learn from headmasters.
- Pupils’ parents create opportunities for their children to join extra-course
activities organized by the teachers and schools.
- The school is located in convenient position.
- Good facilities assist teachers to provide lessons.
3.2. Difficulties: (Chỗ này em viết lại cho rõ hơn)
- There are mistakes which exist in pupil management as these pupils are
growing and they need supports from staffs/teachers of school. For example,
pupils sometimes are playful and stubborn and it made intern teacher
confusing in managing them; whilst headmaster/senior teachers with teaching
experiences can manage them easily and quickly.
- There are some soft skills such as creating Power-point slides which should be
improved. Modern technologies and facilities are used more frequently in
different schools especially delivering knowledge through Powerpoint slides;
however using slides (creating effects, controlling slides) has not been
effective and it needs to be improved.

- When some problems were generated during working, it is realized that there
are still some confuses and hence it needs supports from staffs/lecturer and
other interns (handy documents, working procedures, etc.)
III. INTERNSHIP RESULTS
1. Works have been achieved
a) General works
- Assure the internship schedule to be on time
- Understand a real training at school
- Construct a close relationship between interns and pupils, interns and teachers
- Understand pupils’ thoughts to build up teaching experiences
- Apply knowledge learned from universities to real teaching environment
- Learn teaching experiences and classroom management skills of supervisors.
- Join the school’s picnic in Thai long Viet Tourism area
b) Works achieved as intern headmaster
- Meet the head teacher of intern class and get acquainted with intern class.
- Figure out characteristics of class (disciplines, studying, living, ability of
pupils, manners, etc) through creating surveys for pupils, talking with class’s
staffs and teacher)
- Attend classes all week, urge pupils to review lessons, clean the classroom,
perform salute, play game activities, and do exercises during class breaks.
- Encourage and assist some pupils to improve and resolve difficulties in
learning.
- Cooperate with intern group to control classroom activities with topics such as
‘Loving at pupil ages, should or should not?’, ‘Insensitivity within youth’, first
aid basic skills when pupils in dangers; and additionally organize
conversations and group activities between classrooms.
- Cooperate with parents, pupils and head teacher to organize Festival activities
such as Spring Festival, 8th
March festival, sight-seeing.
- Usually remind pupils who violated disciplines and class’ head team members
to track on team members regularly.

- Observe and learn manners, head teacher methodology, organizing
methodology, class management skill of headmasters to learn experiences
from them.
- Perform and comply tightly with regulation, manners conductions released by
the school.
- Listen to and comprehend ideas of the head teacher.
- Being close to pupils, listen to their thoughts, expectations and respond
accordingly.
- Assure the common targets and details objectives during internship – as an
intern head teacher.
c) Self assessment of Teaching performance
In the first two weeks, I attended sample teaching class of my supervisor.
Through a sample teaching class, I had learned experiences for myself to prepare for
my next lessons. I rafted and prepared four lessons plans which were reviewed and
additionally instructed by my supervisor; it was prepared for next the eight lessons.
In the next 8 weeks, I drafted and prepared lessons plans, e-drafts for all lessons
as well as practiced teaching before attending classes. I performed nine lessons under
assignments of administration board and supervisor. I was assessed by the supervisor
as well as received suggestions to correct mistakes after each lesson.
I also attend other lessons of other intern teachers with the same specialization
to learn experiences from them.
Being supported and instructed by supervisors through sample teaching classes
and attending other intern teaching classes, I have learned lots of experiences,
especially information delivering skills, time adjustment and management, and
activities organizing in classes.
d) Activities regarding Communist Youth and Union of Vietnam Children
The Communist Youth Union of Vietnam Children of Khuong Thuong
Secondary school has some activities recently:
Organize folk games for pupils in Tet holidays.
Support to organize Spring festival

Attend Art Spring festival.
2. Shortcomings
My knowledge was not delivered briefly, concisely and easily to understand.
Time allocation for each lesson was not appropriate when sometimes I have lots of idle
time whereas sometimes I was lack of time to teach lessons.
I still need to improve the skill of using slides presentation and board writing as
there is confusion. The majority of intern teachers cannot manage all their class or they
stand at one place during teaching.
Lessons were concentrated primarily on theories instead of making a
connection with reality.
Studying in schools is totally different with teaching progress; therefore I had
some limitations.
IV. GENERAL CONCLUSION ABOUT INTERNSHIP
1. General assessment about internship
I would like to assess my internship progress in the most objective way as
follows.
I was assisted by senior teachers and supervisors to experience in real pedagogy
environment. I joined teaching activities at school and participated in other school’s
activities and Communist Youth, outgoing activities, etc.
The working environment at Khuong Thuong Secondary school is definitely
“healthy”, open and friendly as well as assures the standard principle in accordance
with pedagogy regulations of schools.
After finishing internship at the school, I have collected experiences through
intern teaching classes in addition to recognizing my mistakes and weaknesses which
need to be improved
2. Explanation, analysis and reasons of achievements and shortcomings
2.1. Achievements
The internship has increased my confidence level and activeness in working. I
built up colleague relationship as well as actively researched teaching resources and

developed teaching capacity and learnt experiences from working environment. The
achievements were contributed by instructions of my supervisors and other senior
teachers at the school.
I understand the important role of teachers who have high responsibilities to
educate pupils. Being a class head teacher, an instructor, a knowledge deliverer, the
teacher must enhance her teaching capacity and soft skills. She should be highly aware
of working ethics and must have healthy lifestyles so that pupils can follow and learn
from the teacher.
In order to be a teacher with good profession, the key to success is the
relationship between pupils and teachers. Good results of pupils are mainly driven by
high awareness of teachers regarding pupils’ thoughts, wishes and expectations.
2.2. Shortcomings
My teaching skills are not as good as other senior teachers as there were some
confusion which occurred in classes. The way of delivering knowledge has not
reflected the general, brief and coherent ideas which should have been more easily to
understand. The reason is that I need regularly practice teaching profession needs to be
usually practiced and enhanced in the future;
The lack of experience as being a class head teacher requires lots of things to be
done. The problems include problems handling and pupil management.
There are few limitations in using e-facilities and MS-office softwares such as
creating and using power-point slides which are used as common teaching facilities at
school.
3. Lessons learned from internship
3.1. Children education
During 10 weeks of internship at Khuong Thuong Secondary school, it is
believed that I have learned lots of experience from the class's head teacher who made
me more confident as a potential teacher in the future. After this intership, I definitely
believe that in order to well educate pupils, the teacher, firstly, must be a person with
high integrity, with good capacity of education. She must work with ethics and
experience. In addition, the teacher not only needs to listen to pupils' ideas but also

accordingly and actively responds in order to solve pupils' problems in a most proper
way. The teacher must be a good example for pupils to follow. As a result, in order to
complete education tasks, the teacher must have full capacity and be aware of working
ethics and specialization
3.2. Lecturing performance
Teaching in school is most important activity and vital target in education
profession. With a purpose to optimize teaching performance, I have learned some
following experience:
Select a proper lecturing methodology and organize lessons accordingly
with current circumstance of lecturing classes.
Fully prepare lessons plans before attending classes; drafted lessons must
show activities of both teacher and pupils.
Encourage the activeness and stimulate curiosity of pupils during teaching
hours by using techniques with warm voices and gentle manners.
Be able to execute pedagogy circumstances with flexible manners.
Be able to allocate time in one lesson.
Assure teaching schedule on time as planned.
Assure knowledge to be concisely delivered and to be accordant with
lesson objectives.
3.3. Schools activities:

- Correctly perform regulations of school
- Actively join in activities and programs organized and established by the
school and Communist Youth.
- Afford to practice and develop in education and work.
b. To people:
- Always listen to people's ideas.
- Adjust and correct mistakes and improve their own personality.
- Maintain good relationship with surrounding society.
