This document summarizes market research conducted for a new music magazine. It found that the target audience is 15-25 year olds, mainly students, and that genres like rock and indie would appeal most. Most respondents were not regular magazine buyers so the publication will likely be online and available by subscription. The magazine will aim to attract readers using cover lines and stars, feature a variety of genres but focus on those favored by the slightly larger number of female respondents. It will cost around £3-4 and be released monthly initially.

Analysis of Market Research
This primary market research for my music was collected by questionnaires, its purpose was to find
out the target audience the magazine I produced will aim to entertain. This was done by
interviewing ten with questionnaires about different aspects of the magazine people of different
ages and genders to decide on the type of music magazine I will create.
Gender
A slightly larger number of females to males.
This will influence the magazine as I
Male interviewed more females therefore the genres
Female within the magazine will be favoured by
females.
Age
Target age 15-25 years old. Therefore the
15-25
music contents in this magazine will be
25-35
favoured by this age groups e.g. Rock for
35-45 Females and Indies for Males.
45+
Occupation
60% students interviewed. This may influence
the cost of the magazine and the style of
Student distribution. E.g. Online.
Employed
Genre A large mixture of genres. For example the
most popular genre is Rock, the second most
Pop popular is indie however other is quite a large
Indie amount this includes music such as soul,
Rock dubstep etc therefore the magazine will
Hip-Hop contain smaller amounts representing all
genres.

Do you purchase
Most people do not usually buy magazines, this
magazines could affect the sales of the magazine
therefore it could be available to purchase
Yes online and the consumers could subscribe and
No get it posted to their house.
Payment
The price would be anything between £3 and
£2-£3 £5, this however could be made cheaper to
£3-£4 attract a larger audience for example an issue
£4-£5 each worth £1.
Other
Attraction
Most people are attracted by the cover star
Name and cover lines therefore there will be many
Cover Star cover lines within the magazine I create.
Cover Lines
Price
How often would you
It would be a monthly magazine, due to people
purchase a magazine not buying many nowadays this however could
Daily be changed if the magazines a big success and
Weekly gains enough interest.
Monthly
Conclusion:
Overall I have decided my magazine will be targeting both genders mainly the genres females favoured
due the increase in females asked during interviews, it will have a similar framework to magazine such
as the NME due to it being a mixture of genres however indie and rock will be the most popular genres
within the magazine, the average cost of the magazine will be £3/4, and it will be released monthly
and possibly based online, the target audience will be the ages of 15-25 years old therefore mainly
students so the target audience will be quite young.
