Judging the Relevance and worth of ideas part 2.pptx
Genres of music
1. Rock
Possibly the most popular genre of music in the world,
there are several magazines that focus solely on the
Rock genre. For example Kerrang, Rolling Stone and
Classic Rock (pictured right.)
The popularity of these types of magazines could be
due to the wide range of bands and artists that fall into
this category, as bands as diverse as Queen and
Metallica – who have very different sounds – both fall
into the same genre.
2. Classical
Classical music magazines usually have a relaxed tone,
however they don’t stand out in the shops because of
the formal layout. However these magazines are aimed
at an older demographic so the bright colours and in
your face tones are not needed to attract the
customers interest.
3. R&B
The background of these magazines are fairly plain and
the main picture takes up a fair amount of the page,
this is probably so the person on the cover is the first
thing people see and due to these magazines being
aimed at a younger audience, seeing someone they
know of and enjoy listening to on a magazine, it would
encourage them to buy.
4. Pop
The pop genre is tailored more towards the female
genre, as the colours used are bright and feminine.
There are also stories about ‘gossip’ and about ‘private
pictures’ of males, I don’t think these images really
appeal to a male audience. There are also shapes such
as spikey text boxes, these are also in bright colours
which further show this genre leans towards females.
