Working Title:
My movie is called “time” due to the narrative being focused on time.
Audience:
My target audience is for anyone but would mainly be focused towards an audience other than
children such as teenagers, adults, middle aged, and old. Although my product is produced to
appeal to this type of audience it doesn’t mean that children wouldn’t enjoy or understand the
narrative of the film and it would still be suitable for them but most likely wouldn’t appeal to them.
The reason I am trying to appeal to this audience is because I think this type of audience would be
more interested and would understand and relate better to the narrative of my production, I have
also came to this decision because I have found out my from my research that my target audience
consists of 53% 16-17 year olds, 27% 17-18, and 20% 18+ year olds. My target audience is also
majority male I have found this out by conducting a survey that showed me that my audience is
60% male and 40% female, therefore since the difference is only 10% I will try to make my product
appeal to a male and female audience. My product is designed to appeal to all social grades and
lifestyles as the narrative should be easy to relate to.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have acquired many new skills and lots of new knowledge such as my understanding of
Photoshop and skills within the programme along with my understanding and skills within adobe
premiere. The subjects I have studied this year have helped inform me on my choice for my project
by allowing me to see multiple examples of products which helped inspire me and allow me to see
how these productions have been made and what narratives they follow, this has shown me what
work has previously been done and how I could differentiate my work from others.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my project is based around the passage of time and I am planning on presenting
this by making a 60 second short film which involves a characters progression through life in a
timeline sort of sequence involving old memories, pictures, previous and current events. I will
construct this all into 60 seconds with a chronological order and a clear passage of time presented
to the audience. However I must include a clock or watch within my production and the lines “that
wasn’t supposed to happen”, I plan on doing this by adding a time-lapse of a clock or a watch and
add the quote at the end of my production implying that everything in the timeline of the characters
life wasn’t planned or wasn’t known and everything that has taken place wasn’t planned or “wasn’t
supposed to happen”. I will need to get previous examples of 60 second short films to see how the
managed to fit a narrative into such a small timeslot, I will also research films about time or time
travel to see how they have portrayed the progression of time and how they have made a distinct
separation from the time periods.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
My production wont involve any special effects or green screens however I will need to do a lot of
post production work to actually put my film together in order to construct and portray the narrative
correctly, I will also need to use a steadicam for my production too to make my shots more stable
when filming things like close ups.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan on evaluating my work by comparing it to other 60 second short films and related
productions, I will also evaluate it by using public opinion and see what my audience thought of it. I
will also note down problems that have occurred and will reflect on how I could have prevented
them and why they happened.
