- 4. Effectiveness of research.What could have been better? I did a lot of research when coming into post production, I looked at inspirational work and studied tutorials in order to be achieve my intended look, a lot of this research had to be applied when I was in post production since I was still ctahing up Methods used, missed opportunities? I used many methods when producing my product, I tried to implement as many editing methods as possible which fitted in with my visual concept I tried to cut to the beat as much as I could, this allowed me to make creative transitions and quick cuts which added to the visuals of my product. I also added audio reactive visuals to my product such as bass hits I did this in after effects and key framing the audio and syncing the effects I put on top of the footage, I used this with a lot of pixel sorting effects and glow effects. However I think I did miss a few opportunities I could've added into the production aspect of my FMP unfortunately I had to use royalty free footage that was available for me to use whereas if I was able to film my own footage I could add other visual techniques and if I had more time I could've developed a proper storyline to coincide with the visuals. Final concept? I think my final concept was implemented in my final product very well, I feel like most of the visual aspects I wanted to add to my product were all included and my final concept was brought to life accurately. I made sure to make experimental draft products so I could properly try and produce the desired look that was in my final concept. Planning, what went well…what did not? The planning for my product didnt go as well as I wouldve preffered, this was because I was so far behind in my other work I ran out of time for planning not to mention when planning started I suffered an injury. Majority of the planning for my FMP started when I was producing my product and I updated it as I went. This left me very unprepared when making my product so it caused me to do a lot of research to achieve the effects I wanted to use, this acted as a domino effect and effected the efficiency of my post production.

Production/post-production When in postproduction I feel that my knowledge of using premiere, after effects and Photoshop progressed a lot I was very pleased with the outcome of some of the editing techniques I had learnt and studied. I did this by just playing around and experimenting within the application, also by watching and studying tutorials online. Another aspect of my product I am pleased with would be the visuals, I tried to make sure that my product didn’t get repetitive and I tried to keep the same themes all the way through, I did this by sourcing lots of existing material online and finding out how to create these techniques and make them my own. I did this through multiple methods such as I watched tutorials online and I learnt by myself how to create the desired look and effects I wanted, I also searched for free presets, effects, transitions, LUT’s, and footage I could implement into my work. I gathered all of the relevant materials I could to create my desired look. I was wanting to make my product very abstract and experimental but the main theme was of a VHS/Glitch/Distorted look. I feel like I achieved this however there are some aspects I don’t like about my product such as the length of the product I was very restricted with the track since I had to use something which I had permission from the artist for, also the length of the track was very short coming in under 1 minute and 30 seconds I tried my best to extend the length of the track but its still very short. I am also not satisfied by the quality of some of the footage although I wanted a VHS/Glitch/Distorted look some of the footage was too crisp and hard to make look more authentic I think a big factor to this was due to the aspect ratio I edited my product in, I feel if I made the footage in a 4:3 aspect ratio it would look more authentic however I was very pressured with time and also I needed as much screen space as possible for some of the effects I wanted to use. I also chose to use a 16:9 aspect ratio because I wanted it to fit the screens for the end of year presentations where our short films are showcased in front of an audience. Another issue I ran into whilst in post production was having to render and export footage so I could actually watch back the footage once I added my intended effects, this caused me to lose a lot of time having to wait for footage to render and export. I also had issues when trying to import premiere footage into after effects which caused me to waste a lot of time trying to find out how to get my footage audio and effects all from premiere to after effects.
- 6. How you dealtwith TECHNICAL problems? When making my FMP I ran into a few technical issues, however I came across all these technical issues in post production. The majority of my technical problems were within adobe premiere or after effects the main issue I came across when in these applications was not being able to view my footage in high quality or a decent frame rate, I ended up having to save and render my projects every time I added a new effect so I was able to view them later. I also ran into issues with my projects crashing and sometimes losing progression, I got past this by constantly saving my work at checkpoints where I though suitable. How you dealt with MANAGEMENT problems? When producing my FMP I worked alone so didn’t have much to manage, however I did have to manage my own tasks and personal targets. I had to try and manage my time where I could unfortunately I wasn't able to get my product done by my intended deadline as it was a lot more time consuming and intricate than I initially thought it would be this has pushed me over my deadline for my product into my time schedule for my written work. Thankfully I managed to get an extension due to medical reason I had struggled with earlier this year which had caused me to be behind on previous written work, this extension has allowed me to push back some of my intended deadlines for myself and now get my work done to a better standard.

How you dealtwith EMOTIONAL problems? when in production of my FMP I feel that I struggled emotionally to find the motivation and passion to get my product completed since I was so far behind and the deadline was so close, this brought on a lot of stress which made me even less motivated. I even debated about leaving the course as I felt I was too far behind to catch up, it was only until I spoke with my tutor where I felt it was worth giving it a shot to try and at least get my product done. As soon as I started working on the product I instantly gained motivation and a passion to complete my product. Does your product meet your intentions? I think my product does meet most of my intentions, I tried to follow all my visual intentions as much as possible. Thankfully there was a lot of material and sources on the internet for me to access and take advantage off such as tutorials, effects, presets and LUTS’s. I am very happy with the outcome of my product compared to my visions of what I wanted it to look like.
