The New Appointee's Orientation Programme (NAOP) is a series of weekly sessions designed to introduce teaching roles and methods to clinical staff who teach University of Cape Town health sciences students. The programme covers topics like engaging students, e-learning, assessment, feedback, bedside teaching, outpatient clinic teaching, tutorials, and diversity. Participants can attend all or select sessions, with a minimum of 6-8 participants required. The goal is to inspire educators and identify gaps and new approaches to improve teaching. The programme is designed to give an introduction to various
teaching roles for anyone who teaches University of Cape Town
health sciences students. All members from clinical staff are
welcome to attend. The programme is offered at the Faculty of
Health Sciences or at satellite sites on request during February
and March as well as July and August.
