Essential UI/UX Design Principles: A Comprehensive Guide
The meet
1. Our Rom-Com film opening by Lucy Ingram, Libby
Colonna, Lois Sellick and Steffan Griffiths
2. What is ‘The Meet’ about?
• When Zoe Macurly is forced to end her
relationship, she finds love in the most
unexpected way and with an unanticipated
person.
3. What will the opening look like?
• The first thing that the audience will see are
the titles. Then they will see a split screen
with Greg on one side and Zoe on the other,
talking on Skype. A simple way of introducing
the main characters.
4. What happens in the opening?
• Zoe is on Skype with her current boyfriend
Greg (split screen), whilst they are on Skype
Greg asks Zoe if she wants to go out for dinner
that night with him. Zoe politely agrees.
• Whilst they are out for a romantic meal at a
restaurant, Greg quickly slips to the toilet
leaving behind his phone.
• Whilst Greg is gone a message pops up on his
phone, from one of Zoe’s friends…
5. Characters
• Zoe Macurly – A 16 year old girl who’s just left
school. She’s a brown haired bubbly confident
friendly character.
• Greg- A typical sporty “lad” planning to do
BTEC sport at college and loves the ladies;)
• Alfie- A friendly normal person, wasn’t
popular at school. Comes across as a shy
person with a difficult background.
6. Settings
• The use of
skype
-Setting will be set at their
homes on Skype to each
other. We got this
inspiration from the Bratz
movie and unfriended.
-The other setting will
be set in a restaurant
on their date.
7. Narrative hooks/techniques
• Voice over to show what Zoe is thinking during
the date.
• Montage of Zoe and Greg getting ready for the
date.
• That Greg is not as trustworthy as Zoe thinks,
which leads to her ending it.
8. Themes/Message
• The Theme is love and heartbreak.
• The message throughout the film is not to
judge someone until you know them. And not
to trust fully in everyone.
