This document discusses the intended audience for a media product. It would be aimed at 16-30 year olds who would be old enough to understand explicit scenes of violence and crime, but still enjoy the independent elements of the film. As an action/crime genre film, the document notes that this genre typically attracts more male viewers, so the film has an all-male cast to allow this audience to relate to the characters more easily. Teenagers are also typically drawn to this genre, so the young characters further help the intended audience relate and imagine themselves in the situation.

Due to the explicit and/or intended violence and
crime evident in my film, shown when theVillain
character uses a gun to murder the Father character,
my film is definitely aimed towards a more mature
audience who can understand and accept such
scenes of violence. As stated in my blog on the
Planning page under “The Audience,” this is also why
I aimed my film at 16-30 year olds.
I believe that people in this particular age range are
suitable to view my film as they’ll be old enough to
understand the “explicit” images within it, however
still young enough to enjoy the evident independent
parts within my film that won’t be classed as entirely
‘professional.’ Which, of course, means not as high a
standard as High Concept Hollywood films.

3. GENRE
Because my film is a Action/Crime film, after doing
my research, I found that this genre was in majority
(however not exclusive to) males.This is one of the
reasons that there are no female characters within
my media piece as I feel that having a fully male cast
would allow this male majority of Action/Crime
viewers to relate to the characters more easily.
Also, the fact that each of the characters appear
quite young (as they are) supports my film as, again
through my research, teenagers are typically more
drawn to/entertained by this particular genre.This,
once again, allows the intended audience to relate to
the characters however also allows them to imagine
they’re also part of the situation.
