Why is Safeguarding Important?
• Prevent the abuse and mistreatment of vulnerable children and adults
• Promote increased awareness and recognition of the issues surrounding the abuse and mistreatment of
vulnerable adults
• Ensure that everyone working with Skills Edge understands their responsibility to protect vulnerable adults from
harm whenever they are in a position to do so
• Ensure that when abuse/mistreatment is suspected, appropriate action is taken to safeguard vulnerable adults
from further harm and exploitation
• Ensure that allegations about abuse/mistreatment are investigated thoroughly, efficiently and consistently
• Respect the rights of all people to live their chosen lifestyle with privacy, dignity, independence, choice and
fulfilment.

legal evidence
