easier due to this.
3. JUSTIFICATIONReasoning behind my model choice
THE MAIN REASONS BEHIND CHOOSING
BECKY AS MY MODEL ARE:
• HER MUSIC TASTE
• HER HOBBIES/EXPERIENCE
• HER AGE AND GENDER
Due to Becky liking the alternative style of music, I
thought that this would make her relate to the type of artist I was
asking her to portray for the photoshoot. In addition to this, she
would also own, or have friends who would lend her, clothing that
represented the alternative genre so it would be easier to dress
her for the photoshoot.
My model is a performing arts student and has previously been
involved in TV shows, plays and other students projects so has a
lot of experience in front of the camera and therefore, on the day
of shooting, she would feel comfortable and confident in having
her photo taken. Also, as she is used to playing a part, I am
confident that she can look the part on camera.
My audience research has shown that both males and females
read alternative music magazines and they are typically around
the ages of 15-21. My model is 17 so fits into this age category
making a relatable artist. I have chosen a female artist as males
will be attracted to her and female can look up to her, relate to
her more and possibly aim to be like her.
4. THE PHOTOSHOOTInforming and Planning
Previous to this text I was with Becky and informed
her about my task and asked her if she would be
available in October, she said that she would be.
This text is the follow up from that conversation and
outlines her availability and preference for location.

The two tables above show both my model and my availability. It shows that other
than before 11:00 on a Tuesday, we would both be unavailable, so to overcome this
problem we decided to plan the photoshoot during the October half term as we
would both be more available.

5. THE PHOTOSHOOTInforming and Planning
In these text screenshots, I asked Becky what day would be best
for her, as I had spoken to the head of the photography studio in
Sunderland University and he said that the studio was available
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (this arranging can be seen
in the studio planning.) Also I showed her more refined outfits
that I wanted her to wear on the day.
6. THE PHOTOSHOOTInforming and Planning
Finally, in these texts I arranged the time to
meet at the studio but later found out that
Becky’s dad was available to drop us off at
the college, which reduced our travel time
and allowed us to discuss what would
happen once we arrive and the plan for the
photoshoot.
