Photoshoot Preparation
1. PHOTOSHOOT PREPARATION
In order to help you prepare for the upcoming photoshoot I have put together
these slides which outline a range of facial expressions, poses, hair and make up
possibilities for you to practise and help you understand the look that I want you
to have for the images.
Over the course of the 1 hour photoshoot, I will require many photographs taken
from different angles with a variety of different and interesting poses/expressions.
It would be helpful if you practice the ones in this PowerPoint by replicating them,
in order to allow the photoshoot to run rather seamlessly and more images to be
taken.
The majority of the photographs will have direct mode of address, which means
the camera will be level with your eyes.
Any additional props or clothing that you do not have will be provided for you.
2. FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
I understand that you have not had a photoshoot previous to
this one so here are some facial expressions for you to practice
for the day.
Practical
• Closed mouth
• Rather serious or business-like
expression
• Eye level with camera
• A slight frown or raised
eyebrow
This expression gives off a stoic,
rebellious and edgy vibe which will
fit well with the alternative genre
of my magazine.
Sexual
• Slightly open mouth
• Possibly a smirk
• Main focus of eyes, can be wide
or squinted
• Direct eye line
This expression has an air of mystery
and sexuality which will attract the
target audience. Also it is used very
often for female models in music
magazines of the alternative genre
Carefree
• Relaxed face
• A slight smile
• Lips closed
• Eyes wide open and in line with
the camera
This expression allows you to look
more natural rather than very
posed which will work with the
theme of the magazine. Also tis
would be a rather easy expression
for you to do.
3. POSES
I understand that you have not had a photoshoot previous to
this one so here are some poses/stances for you to practice for
the day.
These stances will range from you standing and sitting so
that the images look more diverse throughout the
photographs. They will be taken from different angle so
that the best one is found and selected for the final
images. All the poses are rather laid back to reflect the
alternative style of the magazine.
4. HAIR AND MAKE UP
The overall look that I want to achieve with these photographs is
a combination of the punk and alternative genre of music. These
make up and hairstyles are the type of look I would like to go for
so that you fit in with the magazine genre. Hopefully we will be
able to change you hairstyle so that the images look more
unique throughout the magazine.
