1. Who would be the
audience for your
media product?
2. In the preparation period of
before making my magazine I
created a survey to discover
exactly who my audience was and
who I was aiming my magazine
towards. This suggested I had a
mixture of males and females
with an average age of 18. The
majority were most interested in
house music over any other
dance music. My audience don’t
have a lot of disposable income
because the majority are students
however they do enjoy holidays
to places like Ibiza and festivals
like Creamfields where they can
see famous DJ’s.
3. Before creating my magazine I
also created a reader profile of a
typical reader. I had this in mind
when creating my actual product
so to include everything that my
typical reader would be
interested in, eg. Festivals and
famous artists. I included this on
the front cover so that my
audience would be engaged from
the beginning and I also included
in the contents page and double-
page spread things about
festivals, holidays and partying
etc.
4. When considering my actual product I do
believe the audience would be the same as
my intended audience. I believe this as I
created it with them in mind and it has
reflected within the magazine. It appeals to
the right age group with it including
collaborations with Smirnoff etc which is an
alcohol brand so for 18+. It also includes
information on festivals and nights out etc
which again would appeal to my reader. The
colour scheme is also very gender neutral
and therefore appeals to my audience that
are a mixture of both genders. It also
includes a variety of famous house music
artists to appeal to the reader even more as
they voted house music as their favourite
type of dance music.
