6. INTRODUCTION
Thought (also called thinking) – the
mental process in which beings form
psychological associations and models of the
world. Thinking is manipulating information,
as when we form concepts, engage in
problem solving, reason and make
decisions. Thought, the act of thinking,
produces thoughts.
7. CONT….
Thought-provoking: interesting in a way
that makes you think of new ideas or
that changesyour attitude to something.
A thought is fleeting, an idea is something
which you expel into the universe. Though
alike they are, both can cause negative
and positive effects.
8. CONT……..
Ideas are more
likely to become
reality since there is
more energy put into
creating an idea.
Thoughts are not
always concrete and
can quickly change
with experience and
knowledge. An idea
is usual a concrete
concept, whether it
is true or not.
9. CONT……..
Socrates is quoted as saying:
“False words are not only
evil in themselves, but they
infect the soul with evil“.
Matthew 5:13, 14 tells us, "Ye are the salt
of the earth...Ye are the light of the world."
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts
good morals.“
10. CONT……..
Romans 12:2 "Be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that
good, and acceptable, and perfect will of
God.“
1 Corinthians 6:10
Nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards,
nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the
kingdom of God.
14. CONT……..
SO ONE OF OUR VISION IS TO SEE
VISIONARY YOUTH FREE
OF SUBSTANCES AND CONTRIBUTE
FOR CREATING DEVELOPMENTAL
ORIENTED DRUG FREE COMMUNITY.
16. CONT……..
Substance abuse is a broad term for
addiction or inappropriate use of a
chemical substance to alter one's mental,
emotional or physical state, whether the
substance is ingested orally, injected
intravenously or inhaled. Abuse doesn't
always involve or lead to addiction, while
dependence is the therapeutic term that
defines addiction. Substance abuse
generally damages one's health, because
the substances are often extremely toxic
and dangerous

diseases
Liver disease
Nerve damage
Sexual problems
Permanent damage to the brain
Vitamin B1 deficiency, which can lead to a disorder
characterized by amnesia, apathy and disorientation
Ulcers
Gastritis (inflammation of stomach walls)
Malnutrition

High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke,
liver disease, and digestive problems.

bloodstream through the walls of the small
intestine.
4. Heart: pumps alcohol throughout the body.
5. Brain: alcohol reaches the brain.
6. Liver: alcohol is oxidized by the liver at a
rate of about 0.5 oz per hour.
36. How alcohol can effect you
Factors that influence how alcohol will
affect a person include:
age
gender
physical condition
amount of food eaten
other drugs or medicines taken

In medium doses, alcohol can produce:
slurred speech
drowsiness
altered emotions
In high doses, alcohol can produce:
vomiting
breathing difficulties
unconsciousness
coma
DEATH
38. Addicted?
Chronic drinking can lead to
dependence and addiction to alcohol
Withdrawal symptoms include shaking
(tremors), sleep problems, and nausea.
More severe withdrawal symptoms
include hallucinations and even
seizures.
39. Effects On the Body
Central Nervous System
Accelerates the loss of brain cells,
contributing to cognitive deficits.
Chronic use can lead to brain
damage.
Liver
Long-term excessive drinking can
cause hepatitis (inflammation and
destruction of liver cells) and cirrhosis
(scarring and shrinkage of the liver).
40. Effects On the Body
Kidneys
Impairs their ability to regulate the
volume and composition of fluid and
electrolytes in the body.
Heart
Chronic, heavy alcohol use increases
the risk of heart disease.
Alcohol use can also worsen high
blood pressure and diabetes, two risk
factors for heart disease.
