5. WHAT IS RACIAL
DISCRIMINATION?
Racial discrimination is a discrimination against any
individual on the basis of religion, race, skin color, caste, and
ethnic origin.
Individuals can discriminate by refusing to do business with,
socialize with, or share resources with people of a certain
group.

There are several ethnic groups in Pakistan.
Provinces are not ethnically homogenous which often leads
to conflict with each other.
Pakistan has faced the process of disintegration in form of
separation of East Pakistan in 1971 in very short period of its
independence.
Baloch do not feel comfortable with other ethnic identities
because they feel that outsiders are a major source to deprive
them from different economic, social and political
advantages. Baloch often come into conflict with other ethnic
identities.

10. RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AMONG RELIGIOUS MINORITY
Steps were taken in regime of Gen. Zia ul Haq to prevent discrimination
among minorities but it increased stereotypes in society.
Rise in violence and persecution started taking place in the 1970s on the basis of
sects and religion which has caused immense amount of discrimination.
Attacks on Shia community, especially against Hazaras in Balochistan.
Between January 2001 and October 2011, at least 386 violent
of Hazaras were reported, and these attacks continue today.
