12. Caste Discrimination in Pakistan
Pakistan is an Islamic majority country and even then, there are many conflicts that take
place there between the two sects of Shea and Sunni. There have been crimes between the
two sects for ages and nothing is being done about it.
In Pakistan people have a strong belief in caste systems. Society in Pakistan is divided into
subclasses. In Pakistan some classes are highly respectable while some are disrespectable.
Lower castes are often persecuted by upper classes. Caste system in Pakistan is destroying
unity.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah while addressing people once said:
“There should be no distinction and discrimination on the basis of caste and creed.
We all are equal citizens of one state.”
14. In the light of Islam
Islam bans the idea of caste. There is only one caste and this is the caste of Allah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran: (Chapter 49 Surah Hujurat verse 13):
“O mankind, We created you from one man and one woman, and then divided you into
nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable
among you in the Sight of Allah is he who is the most pious of you. Surely Allah is All-
Knowing, All-Wise.”
Allah Says in the Holy Quran:(Chapter 49 Surah Hujurat verse 10):
“The believers are but a single Brotherhood: so make peace and reconciliation between
your brothers: And fear Allah that ye may receive Mercy.”
15. In the light of Islam
The Messenger of Allah (saws) delivered this Sermon on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10
A.H in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat and said that:
“O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast
during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can
afford to. Know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. You are all
equal. No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab, and no non-Arab has any
superiority over an Arab! Nobody has superiority over Another, except by piety and
good action.”
16. Suggestions
The people should be encouraged for inter-caste and inter-religion marriages. And there
should be no change of caste of either bride or groom after marriage. There is no reason
their child gets the fathers caste or religion when he is really from both parents.
There should be no application form that should ask for caste. Then only people will at
least try to ignore it gradually.
Instead of discouraging such people (your friends or yours or others children) who does
inter-caste marriages their parents should be appreciated and treated well with respect in
the community.
The only religion and caste is to BE HUMAN and LOVE each other...only which brings
peace and happiness among us.
17. Suggestions
Love is more important among people to live better not the caste nor the pride...
The rich and poor are in every caste. The reservations and scholarships should be given
according to the merit and social status not based on the caste system.
When people are living and mingling with other religion and caste groups then why
should we give government an opportunity to divide us based on religion and caste?
Government should help people in need not according to the caste system.
Foolish struggles for caste should be stopped. No one chooses to be born in that specific
caste. Then why should we fight for take lives of our friends.
