• Growing awareness, culminating in 2017,
about the shortage of four year college
graduates.
• Online and F2F continue to overlap in some
best practices
• Grading system loses all legitimacy/respect
from employers
• “Engaged Learning” model develops further
• Innovation continues!

1.Multiple assessments become
standard/required.
2.Assessments delivered in different formats
(oral, written, hands-on, drag-and-drop,etc.)
3.Students are highly engaged in peer review
and assessing each other’s work
4.We see third party grading. Teachers become
less involved in grading their students.

5.Data will give sufficient “value added” scores
to provide enough guidance on teacher quality
6.Behavior will be eliminated from grading. It
will be against the law to grade someone based
on the person’s behavior (attendance, late work,
fighting,breaking the law, etc.)
7.Frequent (weekly) quizzes will replace high-
stress infrequent tests/exams.

• Frequent quizzes enhance learning, now part
of learning, not just assessment
• Quizzes are 5-10 questions, usually multiple
choice or short answer, able to be completed
in 10-15 minutes. (Draves,Coates)
• Quizzes will be given, often online, every
Week, one for each subject or course.
• Weekly and/or Unit Quizzes will become the
standard way to measure learning and
knowledge. (Draves,Coates)
Nine Shift: Saturday 10 am.

  • 4. Society Needs 50% of Workers as Knowledge Workers • Use their brain and the Web • Produce something intangible • Have four year college degree • Other workers are dependent On knowledge workers
  • 6. The Year 2015 • Education leaders recognize the system is “broken” • Now in a time of experiments, tests, hits and misses, fads. Some things will last. • Around 2017 new models are proposed • Around 2020 a new model emerges for education in the 21st century
  • 7. The Year 2016 4 Year College Graduate Shortage Not enough smart students in the college pipeline
  • 8. The Year 2016 • Growing awareness, culminating in 2017, about the shortage of four year college graduates. • Online and F2F continue to overlap in some best practices • Grading system loses all legitimacy/respect from employers • “Engaged Learning” model develops further • Innovation continues!

Assessment and Grading Changes 1.Multiple assessments become standard/required. 2.Assessments delivered in different formats (oral, written, hands-on, drag-and-drop,etc.) 3.Students are highly engaged in peer review and assessing each other’s work 4.We see third party grading. Teachers become less involved in grading their students.
  • 11. Assessment and Grading Changes 5.Data will give sufficient “value added” scores to provide enough guidance on teacher quality 6.Behavior will be eliminated from grading. It will be against the law to grade someone based on the person’s behavior (attendance, late work, fighting,breaking the law, etc.) 7.Frequent (weekly) quizzes will replace high- stress infrequent tests/exams.

(Draves,Coates) • Quizzes will be given, often online, every Week, one for each subject or course. • Weekly and/or Unit Quizzes will become the standard way to measure learning and knowledge.
