It's no surprise that the most engaged students appear to do best in HE. Of course it's not. However, why doesn't everyone just do as much as possible? My role at NTU is to look for ways to improve student engagement by helping with transition, improving the learning and teaching environment. I have two main projects: The NTU Student Dashboard - a major learning analytics resource designed to help our students see how they are engaging with their studies and help us build relationships with them and support for them. Success for All - developing institutional approaches to reducing student barriers to progression and attainment, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds
