• A pamphlet is an unbound booklet that is with
a hard cover or binding.
• It may consist of single sheet of paper that is
printed on both sides and folded in half, in
thirds or in fourths called leaflet, or it may
consist of few pages that are folded in half and
saddled stapled at the crease to make a simple
book.

• Pamphlets are also know as the visual media
which are considered as mass media of health
education.
• It gives short description of different aspects of a
specific topic. The messages can also be written
in the form of song or poem and also in the form
of dialogue.
• In order to convey health messages, pamphlets
can be produced in the form of leaflets or folders

• A leaflet consists of only one page but a folder
consists of more than one page but not
attached together.
• Some pamphlets may also include relevant
pictures to illustrate the points of teaching. It
should be as brief as possible. It should not
exceed more than one page.

1.Consider your layout/size;
Before you start to designing, you have to
decide how big or small you want your
pamphlet to be, and how it should be folded.
2. Write compelling copy;
It don’t offer lot of space , so use simple
language which should be purposeful ,
valuable and easy to read and understand.

Illustrate your pamphlet with helpful visual elements
like photos , tables , and charts etc to make it more
interesting to the reader.

Colors relate emotions so choosing correct color
enhance the reading experience.

• The pamphlets has been widely adopted in
commerce, particularly as a format for
marketing communications.
• There are numerous purposes for the
pamphlets such as product descriptions or
instructions, corporate information, event
promotions or tourism guides and are used in
the same way as leaflet, broachers.

• Since they are distributed widely for mass
education they should be provided in large
scale.
• Pamphlets can also be distributed to the
learners of a training group, to family members
in family planning and maternal child health
clinic, hospital OPD etc.
• Pamphlet should be pre tested before
producing them for public use.

• It helps in propagation messages rapidly in mass
scale through wide distribution.
• People can read them in their free time and
understand the messages as well.
• Since they are easy to carry from place to place ,
the first readers can pass the read pamphlets to
others to read.
• Helps as the reminder of the messages if kept in
safe place.
• It is easier to prepare and produce in large scale at
low cost.

• It provides only one-way communication.
• It is not useful of illiterates.
• Printing services may not be available
everywhere specially in rural places and small
towns.
• It doesn’t assure if people or targeted
population read and understood the distributed
pamphlets.
