2. The font of the metro masthead is simple however give out
a few information within it. The type of font used is the
Sans Serif font in bold. The colours is a simple white
amongst a blue background which brings out the
masthead. The website of the metro is also included in the
masthead just including ‘co.uk’ this is clear when the
newspaper is picked up and also allows readers to know
that there is a website available. Also the date is within the
masthead. It is ideal for its audience as the newspaper is
free therefore when people see it they are likely to pick
one up.
The font used is the Slab Serif. Fonts in most mastheads
are usually typed in capital letters this is to capture the
audience attention. Alongside the masthead is an eagle
holding the independent newspaper this is used as a logo
which is iconic.
3. The masthead for this newspaper is bright and bold
to attract the audience attention. The colours used is
also white against a bright red background. The font
used is the sans serif font. The font is big enough to
be identified from a far point of view. The sun is a
daily newspaper that is purchased at cost. The
newspaper has a popular sale therefore the masthead
is kept simple and presented clearly.
The masthead head for a local newspaper is quite
different. The colours of the fonts are two-toned
however is similar to ‘the sun’ masthead. Again the font
used is the sans serif font.
4. Conclusion
After analysing the different types mastheads in newspapers it has given me a creative
mind to produce something a bit different. I have noticed a few newspapers have used the
font sans serif. Therefore to make my newspaper different I will try and avoid using that
type of font for my masthead. The two-toned colours used in the masthead is attractive
therefore I will use more than one colours in my production in order to make young
teenagers want to pick it up.
