2. I think that it is important to keep an effective combination of my
main product and ancillary texts as it makes the overall finished
product look professional and unique, as it has continuity and the
same theme throughout all the products. The continuity is shown
through the typography and the colours and effects. The house
style of my ancillary text is the colour schemes of black and white
because these colours compliment each other which then makes
my ancillary products stand out more due to how the colours clash
with each other. I have used the Accord SF font and the Basic Sans
Heavy SF as these fonts make the words stand out as they are
both very bold and striking fonts which may draw more attention
to the products as the audience will be able to read them easier.
All of the band members are the centre of my ancillary texts as
they are the main part/focus out of all of the products, this is
because it is a must to promote the artist.
3. My main product is the music video of ‘Youth Of The Nation’ By P.O.D
and my ancillary texts like the digipak and the magazine advert both
promote the music video. I have a very strong brand identity throughout
all of my products as the colour scheme is kept the same throughout all
of them therefore making some association between the products. The
fonts across all of my ancillary products are also the same, this is so that
the audience can recognise and associate the text with the band/artist
which will make the band look bold and strong.Another way that I
strengthened my brand identity was to use the colour white as the
background colour for my music video as this more reinforces the
continuity between the products and the colour schemes of the ancillary
texts and my music video. On every part of the digipak apart from the CD
there is an image of one of the band members to set in the brand identity
as that it links to the Alternative Rock Genre as artists of this genre have
to promote themselves as normally they do not have a huge budget to
advertise themselves, this is why they promote themselves in their own
products such as their videos and their ancillary products.
4. My magazine advert and my digipak are both in the same
arrangement with same style as the artist/band are
displayed on both ancillary texts. This helps promote the
connection between the ancillary texts and that the
audience will recognise the connection between the 2
products and then will associate the products with each
other. To improve the connection between the video and
the ancillary texts I could have used the effects on the
didipak and the magazine advert which is on the bands
face in the music video as this may create more
recognition between the ancillary texts and the video in a
different way. Linking these 2 products through the use of
the same effects will increase the branding and in turn
could then improve the rate of sales for the products.
5. The typography of the artists name is constant throughout all of my
ancillary products so that the brand identity is fixated in the audiences
mind. I have also used the same typography for the album name
throughout all of the ancillary products and it is bolder than the artists
name so that the audience can notice it much easier. I have used
different typography for the reviews of the album so that the audiences
can easily distinguish that it is not part of the artists brand. To further
enhance this I have used speech marks and lowered the size of the text
for the reviews to ensure that people will not think that it is part of the
brand identity, this will also make the audience want to read the reviews
as they may stand out to them due to the typography being different as
well as other important features of the magazine advert such as the
banner with the release date. The connections of the typography is what
allows my ancillary products to be effective because of how similar they
are and how easy it is to associate them with each other.
