Description:
The course deals with interactions between science and technology and social, cultural,
political, and economic contexts that shape and are shaped by them.
This interdisciplinary course engages students to confront realities brought about by
science and technology in society. Such realities pervade the personal, the public, and the
global aspects of our living and are integral to human development. Scientific knowledge
and technological development happen in the context of society with all its socio-political,
cultural, economic, and philosophical underpinnings at play. This course seek to instill
reflective knowledge in the students that they are able to live the good life and display
ethical decision making in the face of scientific and technological advancement.

Assessment System and Performance Standards Performance Criteria: (per MSC-BOT Resolution No. 62 s., 2016)
In order to pass this course, student should have a final grade of 3.0 or better.

Institutional Policies:
ď‚· Policies and guidelines (specifically on attendance, absences, student discipline)
provided in the Student Handbook, as amended, and approved by the MSC –
Board shall be implemented.
Class Policies:
ď‚· Activity mechanics and instructions will be announced before or during classes and
will also be posted through the Google Classroom and Facebook Messenger.
ď‚· All class requirements and written outputs (soft or hard copy) shall be compiled and
submitted on the dates prescribed. Late submission is only acceptable 24 hours after
deadline and will be given a rating of 3.0. Students who failed to submit on the due
date will be given 5.0.
ď‚· Students must be physically present a few minutes before the scheduled time of class.
Students who will come 15 minutes after the class started will not be allowed to enter
the classroom and considered “absent”. Those who arrive beyond official time of
class will be considered late (tardiness). Three (3) tardiness will automatically
equal to one (1) absence.
ď‚· Students without notifications of absence or excuse letters (signed by
parent/guardian) will not be allowed to have make-up course such as quiz or activity
but will be allowed to take major examination.
