another. You can move a whole image or
just part of it. This can be done by selecting
the move tool and using either your mouse
of keyboard buttons.

This allows you to make a rectangular or
square selection when used with the shift

This tools allows you to make an elliptical
or circle shape when used with the shift

Single Row/ Single Column Marquee

This tools defines the border as a one
by one pixel wide row or column.

Eye Dropper Tool/ 3D Eye Dropper Tool (I)
This tools allows you to define the
foreground and background colour. It also
lets you get rid of red eyes on photos. This
works on 3D pictures as well.
Colour Sampler (I)
This tools allows you to pick a colour from a
different image or document and use that
colour on the picture you are using. This is
often used when the lighting in a picture
makes it look two different colours and it
needs to be one.
Ruler (I)
This tools allows you to use a ruler to
measure your picture to make sure that it is
the right distance and in the right place.
Note (I)
This tools allows you to add notes about
your picture. These do not show up on the
picture.Count (I)
This tools allows you to add numbers and
labels to the image. These won’t show up
on the final image but can show up while
you are working on the image, if you
choose to show them.

Patch (J)
This tools allows you to select an area of
the image and duplicate it. This can then be
moved around to get rid of something in the
background or to duplicate something, for
example an animal. It merges the pixels to
make it look natural.Content Aware
This tools examines an image and then
decides what it thinks should be taken out
of it and finds that best way to do this, by
itself.
Red Eye (J)
This tools allows you to remove the redness
in someone's eye. This makes the picture
look more natural and professional.
Move (V)
This tools allows you to move a picture or
image around the page of from one page to
another. You can move a whole image or
just part of it. This can be done by selecting
the move tool and using either your mouse
of keyboard buttons.
Clone Stamp
This tools allows you to select a part of the
image that you want to copy and ‘stamp’ an
exact copy of it onto the picture.
Pattern Stamp
This tools allows you to pick and pattern
and ‘stamp’ it onto the image where you
want it.
6. Eraser (E)
This tools allows you to rub out parts of the
image that you don’t want there. It rubs out
all of the parts, for example if there was a
person stood in front of something it would
rub out both bits, not just the person.
Background Eraser (E)
This tools allows you to rub out just the
background of an image. The background
needs to be a separate layer to the rest of
the image, and must be selected in order
for it to work.
Magic Eraser (E)
This tools allows you to remove a part of
the image all at once. Fore example if you
click on the background of an image it will
remove the background.
Blur
This tools allows you to blur a part of the
image. This allows you to make something
look like it wasn’t there.
Sharpen
This tools allows you to sharpen the whole
or part of the image. This makes the image
clearer and look more professional.
Smudge
This tools allows you to smudge part of a
picture or image, as if you are running your
finger through wet paint.
Dodge (O)
This tools allows you to lighten the image.
You can set the midtones, highlight and
shadows.
Burn (O)
This tools allows you to darken areas of the
picture/image by touching them with your
mouse.Sponge (O)
This tools allows you to saturate or
desaturate a part or all of the image/picture.
7. Painting ToolsBrush (B)
This tools allows you to change the colour
of part of the image/picture by drawing onto
the part of the image that you would like to
change. The brush can be different shapes
and sizes and also have different edges to
give the pictures a better effect and make it
look more realistic.
Pencil (B)
This tools allows you to draw onto the
picture/image. You can adjust the size and
shape of the pencil. It is usually thinner than
the brush tool and makes more precise
lines.
Colour Replacement (B)
This tools allows you to pick a colour that
can either be in the image or in the colour
palette and change the colour of another
part of the image.
Mixer Brush (B)
This tools allows you to pick up colours
from the picture and mix them together. It
also allows you to control the rate at which
the paint dries on the page, allowing you to
mix the paints easier.
History Brush (Y)
This tools allows you to bring back part of
the image, for example colour on part of the
image if the rest is back and white.
Art History Brush (Y)
This tools allows you to add artistic effect to
the picture/image.
Gradient (G)
This tools allows you to pick where you
want colours to gradient and how.
Paint Bucket (G)
This tools allows you to fill in a whole area
of the image in one block colour.

Vertical Type (T)
This tool allows you to type vertically onto
the page.
Freeform Pen (P)
This tool allows you to draw freely onto the
page.Add Anchor Point
This tool allows you to add a point to
reshape vectors/paths.
Delete Anchor Point
This tool allows you to delete a point to
reshape a vector/path.Convert Point
This tool allows you to edit a shape/vector
that is already on the page adding a straight
lines or smooth vector to it.
Horizontal Type (T)
This tool allows you to type horizontally
onto a page.
Pen (P)
This tool allows you to draw freely onto the
page.
Horizontal Type Mask (T)
This tool allows you to create horizontal
type-shaped selections.Vertical Type Mask (T)
This tool allows you to create vertical type-
shaped selections.
Path Selection (A)
This tool allows you to select and move
(fragments of) existing path's /vector shape
mask's segments / anchor points.
Direct (A)
This tool allows you to select and move

a rectangle.
Rounded Rectangle (U)
This tool allows you to create an outline for
a rectangle with rounded edges.
Ellipse (U)
This tool allows you to create elliptical

This tool allows you to create polygonal
shape outlines.
Line (U)
This tool allows you to create line outlines
and paths.
Custom Shape (U)
This tools allows you to create vertical
custom shape and path outlines.

Hand (H)
This tool allows you to navigate an edited
image when it is not completely visible in
the window.
Rotate View (R)
This tool allows you to rotate your view of
the whole window.
Zoom (Z)
This tool allows you to zoom in or out of the
window.
