Editor's Notes
Biological anthropology deals with the evolution of humans, their variability, and adaptations to environmental stresses. Using an evolutionary perspective, we examine not only the physical form of humans - the bones, muscles, and organs - but also how it functions to allow survival and reproduction.
Latin essentially “died out” with the fall of the Roman Empire, since there’re no native speakers but in reality, it transformed. Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian. Thus, Classical Latin fell out of use.
The primary focus of an archaeologist is typically learning about societies from the past by studying physical evidence people leave behind. This can include artifacts like buildings, tools, clothing and other signs of a society that archaeologists can investigate. Archaeologists can also study bones from ancient animals and humans to learn about how different species have developed over time. Because archaeologists work mainly with artifacts, they often study civilizations from long ago, such as the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.
Interdisciplinary – focus on multiple areas of anthropology
How society affects us as humans, at the same time, how we affect our society.
Sociology is the study of society, patterns of social interaction, social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior
Sociology includes topics such as Gender equality, social stratification, family structure
Birds of the same feather flock together.
Robust – sturdy, firm
If we know about certain social issues, we can make more correct decisions
Are we a democratic or republican government? Paano ba pinapalakad ang isang bansa? How do we get power?
Political institutions are organizations which create, enforce, and apply laws. •
The major types of political systems are democracies, monarchies, oligarchies, and authoritarian and totalitarian regimes.

In the previous lesson, we learned about the goals of Anthropology, Political Science, and Sociology and how it made an impact to the society. As a continuation, our next lesson will focus on the anthropological and sociological perspectives of culture and society
Beliefs – magluhod padulong altar serves as penance/penitensya, or devotion
Cultural practices - pagkakamay
Perspective – mindset, lens
the view that our social backgrounds influence our attitudes, behavior, and life chances. The chances of committing even an individual act such as suicide depend to some degree on the group backgrounds from which we come. Thinking through a sociological perspective helps us to understand the situations of others and allows us to better understand the reason people are in the situations they are in. Concepts like oppression, inequality, and intersectionality are realities in society that shape the lives of many. EX: WHY THERE ARE STILL POOR PEOPLE? The sociological perspective shows us that the society around us influences how we act and even what we think and how we feel.
Anthropological Perspective focuses on the study of the full scope of human diversity and the
application of that knowledge to help people of different backgrounds.
By studying culture, we will understand a person better. On the other hand, by studying man, we will understand our culture and its diversity.
Anthropological perspective is very important because it
looks at shared aspects of humanity like language, cultural connections, economics, and curiosity
to find the common thread. What makes the Anthropological Perspective unique is that unlike
other social scientists, anthropologists look beyond the confines of our own society and compare
it to the beliefs and practices of other societies, past, and present
