2. Profiling our audience
Audiences are very important to the music industry as producers need to know their
audiences tastes so they can tailor the products to suit them. Being familiar with your
audience is required, which is why we have conducted research into audiences of
similar artists to our artist Eva.
To get to know our audience better, I contacted a fan of the original artist of our song
through Instagram to hear her opinions. I also set up a survey on SurveyMonkey and
sent it to people within our audience demographic.
3. Audience Feedback
I sent a link to our survey to a few people who had been following Jorja Smith on Instagram and to people that I
know. From the survey I found that they were all from the ages 16-25. I also found that a majority of our
audience may be female. We found out information about our audience’s socio-economic groupings.

8. From this feedback we have gained helpful target audience research that we will
definitely incorporate into our music video. We have also found that although
someone may be a fan of an independent artist, they may sometimes prefer to
listen to mainstream artists.
Overall we have found that fans of this genre would prefer if an R&B/Soul music
video followed its genre conventions.
